Re: 2007-2008 Offseason Acquisition Guide
Quote:
Padres offered arbitration to outfielder Mike Cameron and catcher Michael Barrett; declined to offer arbitration to Milton Bradley.
Because the Elias rankings are so messed up, the most valuable player of the three, Cameron, is the one who wasn't a Type-A free agent. The Padres will net a supplemental first-rounder if he signs elsewhere. Barrett figures to take the Padres' offer, especially since he'll be even less interesting to other teams now that it will take a draft pick to sign him. Bradley is aiming to be ready for Opening Day after suffering a torn ACL at the end of the season, but the Padres couldn't risk making the offer to him.
