They do this to prevent getting burned by the big play, also trusting that at points in the game they will get the 3 and out or the turnover that swings the game.

What? They played Sunday vs. Buffalo, went home to play in New england, and had an additional day off for the Baltimore game.
They had just as much, and more, rest between weeks than they normally have.
