No I didnt expect it to be that popular after a $40 million debut. But majority of films that open north of $40 million from majority seeing it the first wknd, will see only drops of 50-60%. Now with 2nd wknd drops of 70% and 62%, and fact that its January when not much big movies happen at this time... it does more or less point to good word of mouth is waning
Super Bowl wknd has been more of a wknd for the ladies and it continued that trend this year, and then some. Hannah Montana (biggest pre-teen star, and newest countdown to 18

) took by the theaters by storm, despite opening in under 700 theaters. The average movie opens north of 2500 theaters. Disney maintained it would just be a 1 week engagement... not surprising, the new ads are saying that it will have an extended run.
Strange Wilderness, not shocked at all. I had to change the channel every time when I see that scene of the shark, Steve Zahn doing that assine laugh over and over again. It opened outside of the top 10 with just $3 million
