Obviously there are Yankee fans that despise the Red Sox. I root against the Red Sox in almost every game they play, but not because I hate them. In most situations, them losing benefits the Yankees. I care about the Yankees winning. I hope the majority of Yankee fans feel this way too.

There are 2 types of Yankee fan suffering:
Those who despise the Red Sox like they banged their wives will think 2004 is the worst.
Rational, none "hating the Red Sox is bigger than life" think 2001 is the worst because they were about to win a WS.
Finding the middle point is fun.
