SI.com's Jon Heyman says the deal also includes a vesting option for 2012.

1:58pm: The Angels have re-signed outfielder Bobby Abreu to a two year deal, according to Ed Price of AOL FanHouse. Terms of the deal are not yet known, but stay tuned for updates.

The 35-year-old Abreu made just a $5MM base salary in 2009, though incentives tied to plate appearances put another $1MM in his pocket. Abreu hit .293/.390/.435 in his first year in Anaheim, driving in 100+ runs for the seventh straight season.

Oh, and this sets the market for the aging corner OFer. $9.5 million a yr for this guy likely means we are heading into an expensive offseason. If Abreu is worth that much, imagine how much Holliday and Bay will get. Hell, and Damon for that Matter. The rumor percolating through NY was that the yankees were gonna offer 2yrs 16 mil to Damon to keep him. That might be a tad low now.

Good deal for Anaheim. There goes the most viable LF option outside of Bay and Holliday

The Red Sox were not going to go after Abreu. This is a good signing for Anaheim personnel-wise--he's a tough out. I don't know the cost so its hard to say if it is a good deal.

What I love is that Abreu's season was so on par with what he's done in recent years and yet he gets a deal that's potentially for 3-years at almost double what he made this season on a one-year deal. Outstanding.

good deal for both sides. Angels keep the consitant Bob Abreu and Bob Abreu doesn't have to wait to about the day before Spring Training starts to find a job.

I think Damon will get 11-13M for 2 years. Bay will get 15-17M for 4-6 yrs. And Holliday will get 16-20M for 6-8 yrs. Looks like the market might be heading back up. Should be a fun off season
