Any thoughts? As much as I like Daubach, we have plenty of depth in the bench with Burks, McCarty, not to mention Crespo, Kapler, and Bellhorn when we have a healthy lineup. Can't have enough pitching.

i agree, but Frank Castillo? I don't think he has anything left to offer.

I always hated Frank Castillo. He consistently has a 5 ERA, and takes FOREVER to pitch. Guys like him are the reason games run 3+ hours.

McCarty seems to have more pop. I'm not sure when they placed (will place) Daubach on waivers, but there is a good chance he could hang on with the team if he clears. I think it takes 48hrs.

I don't know why they picked up Castillo to begin with. He was actually worse than John Burkett. Losing him was one of last years improvements.

As bad as Burkett was, for some reason I was always rooting for him. They should have made him an offer instead. -_-

Burkett was not bad. He was consistent, always doing what was expected. He went 25-17 in two years with the Sox. I'll take it.

I agree with letting Daubach go for pitching since we do already have enough depth on the bench but man do I hate Frank Castillo. I hope this is a real short term thing.

From ESPN

"The Red Sox outrighted INF Brian Daubach and LHP Bobby Jones to Triple-A Pawtucket on April 14. Daubach accepted the assignment and will report to Pawtucket; Jones has 72 hours to accept or refuse the assignment. "

So if Dauback was outrighted, does that mean he still has to pass through waivers?

Bobby Jones: Good riddance. Never come back.
