I say Bellhorn.
Crespo does suck, and as they're both are a void at the plate, Bellhorn is worse than Crespo and Walker when it comes to D. Woohoo, Bellhorn can walk, but that's it.

How the hell is Bellhorn still in the Majors????

I voted for Crespo but it didn't give me credit for it. Bellhorn is way better than Crespo and you know damn well it will be Crespo sent down when Nomar comes back. Bellhorn's OBP is fantastic plus he does get a timely hit every now and then.

Crespo is like an automatic out and you can tell by how little he's been used lately that Francona has little use for him. Crespo belongs back in AAA to work on his own issues with "fundamentals".

Crespo by far. Bellhorn has OBP on his side, Crespo has nothing. He's a less good Jose Offerman.

Crespo needs more time in the minors to work on his game. He wasn't all that bad in ST, but he was facing mostly minor league pitching there. He's just another example of how much we need Nomar back.

Yes, if its Cesar Crespo.

But honestly, all teams have bad players, and bellhorn isnt a player. I voted Crespo, because he sucks at EVERY facet of the game. He cant hit worth anything. Bellhorn has a great eye and can occasionally hit the ball farther than the pitchers mound.

What do you mean by Bellhorn isnt a player?

RoyNHSox

What's going to happen with the 2nd base position when Nomar comes back from the DL? Since both Pokey and Bellhorn both have their strengths, I'd like to see a situational platoon of both. Who starts depends on basically who's pitching. Pokey starts at 2B when Lowe and Kim pitch. And maybe Bellhorn starts when Curt and Pedro are pitching for example. I just don't want it to be "automatic" that Pokey starts at 2B every night and Bellhorn is on the bench.

Well when nomar comes back crespo mostlikely will go down. But then who's going to go down when Trot comes back?

I think he meant "Bellhorn isn't a bad player". Just a guess though.

thats along the lines of what i thought he meant but i wasnt sure.

What a dumb question this is, "Who suck more, Bellorn or Crespo?"

At this point it is a no contest. As i stated before in another thread, Bellhorn has been one of the best surprises this year with his high OBP. Crespo is definitely not a major league caliber player. I think Bellhorn would come of the bench for a lot of teams and i think many teams would also like him off the bench with his high OBP.

no one is going to go down when trot comes back. Like last year millar will go to 2b and kapler will sit untill he pinch hits and Ortizzle will DH.

Won't there not be enough room on the roster? I've heard before that DiNardo will be the odd man out, no matter how well he is pitching, and that he will be the first one to go down to make room for whoever comes back. Our bullpen is strong enough right now to survive the loss of one member I think. And, however sad it is to say, we could use crespo as an extra utility guy for the time being until Nomar gets back.

RedSox24

but nomar should be back in less than 2 weeks

All you need to do is compare their stats to see "who sucks worse".
Crespo:

Last 3 years Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2001 SDG 55 153 27 32 6 0 4 12 25 50 6 2 .209 .320 .327 .647
2002 SDG 25 29 5 5 2 0 0 0 3 6 3 2 .172 .250 .241 .491
2004 BOS 20 43 1 7 1 1 0 0 0 12 0 0 .163 .163 .233 .395
Career 100 225 33 44 9 1 4 12 28 68 9 4 .196 .285 .298 .582
Bellhorn:

Last 3 years Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2002 CHN 146 445 86 115 24 4 27 56 76 144 7 5 .258 .374 .512 .886
2003 CHN 51 139 15 29 7 1 2 22 29 46 3 3 .209 .341 .317 .658
2003 COL 48 110 12 26 3 0 0 4 21 32 2 3 .236 .368 .264 .632
2004 BOS 27 92 17 22 5 0 3 13 27 31 2 0 .239 .415 .391 .806
Career 398 1109 177 256 50 8 39 119 197 370 23 12 .231 .351 .396 .747

Although the stats are messed up (I still can't figure out how to get them to line up properly), you can see that, for both this year and for their careers Bellhorn is much much better. Sure, he isn't great, but compared to Crespo he is.

YanksHater213

remember, crespos stats are at the minor league level, bellhorns are all at the major league level so it isnt really fair to compare these

Right. Crespo's minor league stats are worse than Bellhorn's major league stats. Enough said.

i agree with this, he will get better with experience, but as of the moment bellhorn is way ahead

Crespo could take 3 or 4 years to significantly improve - Bellhorn is doing well right now (and will be a very good utility player once Nomar comes back).

And one of the lefties in the bullpen will go down when Nixon comes back.

Bellhorn is better than Crespo by several orders of magnitude. It's not even close.

My reasons for voting Bellhorn as the player of greater suck are three-fold:

1) Bellhorn sucks because he's an ex-Cub. Adding Bellhorn to Mueller doubles the number of ex-Cubs on the roster and therefore doubles the influence of the "teams with ex-Cubs never win the Series" curse. We don't need this:

http://www.all-baseball.com/ref/berler.html

2) Bellhorn is playing only marginally better than Crespo (save OBP, which is huge, granted) and he's five years older with way more ML at bats.

3) Crespo not only looks like a pirate, but could possibly have the best pirate name in baseball: Captain Crespo or Captian Cesar Crespo or Crespo the Mad

In Bellhorn's favor though, he was born in Boston.

Lol, you can't argue with that I guess. Captain Crespo, nice alliteration

But I still think he's the player of greater suck. :D

Bellhorn is has a high OBP, and his average is up. CRESPO?!! He hasnt drawn a walk or had an RBI

Well, we could have guessed by your username. :D

And I hadn't realized that Crespo has 0, ZERO, RBIs. That further drives home the point!
