Nice. Braves = TBS. Im in New York (ugh) right now, so I can watch the sox implode for once! Yay.

Last night's game was not a huge heartbreaker for me. First of all, my expectations are always kept low, so that when they do win, it's a great feeling. My other thing is that I'm almost as much of a baseball fan as I am a Sox fan. The game most of us witnessed yesterday was a great game of baseball, even though the outcome was not as pretty as we all might have hoped. We saw two outstanding defensive plays turned in by Jeter and A-Rod, a great pitching match-up, and one of the more exciting baseball games I've seen in a while. It's a new start, a new month (yesterday didn't count as July cause we were finishing a June series), and hopefully a big turn-around for the Sox. Keep in mind the Sox are far from out of this: a poor month of play (or even .500 play) from the Yankees or the Wild Card contenders and a great month from the Sox could mean good things.

Good news all around: Mueller is expected to be back tonight, and Williamson might not have to go on the DL. With Bellhorn, Youkilis, Pokey, Nomar, and Mueller for 3 positions, I think our team is still more than stacked. And finally, hopefully, fully healthy.

Arroyo would certainly like a good start tonight, with some consistent offensive backing. And his last four starts certainly have not been bad. He had a 3.22 ERA in his last 4 losses, it was the 7 unearned runs that killed him. He has 6.9 K/9 over that stretch (not bad for a #5 starter). The Red Sox have only scored 6 runs over his last 4 starts. Arroyo is a quality pitcher, he just needs his team to work with him, not against him.

Let's hope Theo completes a trade for Russ Ortiz and Andruw Jones BEFORE they have a chance to beat us.

Tonight's starters:

Bronson Arroyo

vs

Jaret Wright

this is going to be a 10-9 game, no doubt about it. bronson has sucked in his last few starts, and well, jaret wright just sucks. so i am expecting a good win tonight, i hope our defense doesnt implode like usual though

There's no way this team scores 9 runs in an NL park. We scored 2 on the last two scrubs we've faced, and that's WITH a designated hitter.

Can anyone imagine a Red Sox "star" hustling after a ball like Jeter did last night? Francona has to go. The players have already quit, why do we stick around. The only good news right now is the Patriots start in a few weeks.

Ortiz with the 1st inning homerun...good to get on the board early

YanksHater213

he mashes the ball. its a disgrace to leave someone like him off the allstar ballot

Let's see through the bullshit for a minute. Admit it. Arroyo is fucking nasty. That strikeout he just had? Those pitches were DIRTY.

way to comeback mueller, a rbi single, I LIKE IT A LOT

JMDurron
07-02-2004, 07:03 PM
Mueller is even a bigger addition in a NL park. We now have two guys who can actually smack LHP as pinch hitters when needed (Youk, Millar), alongside our defensive replacements (Kapler, McCarty). And we have POKEY backing up SS/2B instead of Crespo. Good times.

yeszir
07-02-2004, 07:05 PM
Well, make it 2-1.... Damn chipper. And these Braves commentators don't hold a candle to Remy and Orsillo....

CalvnHobs6
07-02-2004, 07:05 PM
Tonight, two angels got a set of wings. Millar is benched, and Crespo is cut. I think I could sing a song.
Great return for Bill Muelle, an RBI in his 1st at bat. Lovin it. Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, your Boston Red Sox.

Yea, I'm watching it on TBS. He sounded embarassed about the CWS pictures they were showing.

Also, Nomar comes up with the hit and who but TROT NIXON hits into a double play. And now Tek strikes out. I think Nomar is starting to hit...

Wow, talk about some negative attitudes. I think he'll start hitting because he could finally have recovered from his injury, and that swing there looked good. Geez, a guy wins two batting titles and now he sucks...

2-3. Trust me, he'll get his average up above or near 300 pretty soon. Plus, its not like he just grounded into a double play or anything, we hav Tek and Trot for that.

And yankees are losing 7-0.

I grew up on the Braves too o.o We only used to get TBS *sniffle* It's fun to watch Chipper =D My dad and I (really young) were watching that world series they won...

But I gotta stay with the Red Sox.

Both teams... wow. Bad luck! 1 out bases loaded -_- AND NO RUNS!

We got the OBP Trio on all the bases (Youk, Damon, Bellhorn), and the biggest of our big bats don't do anything. Would anyone else like to complain about us not trying to steal often enough? Even with Pokey's speed, he's going to get caught a few times when we're going to wish that we had another out.

yeszir

Millar is this team's biggest problem. And Nomar is back. I hope. Man, this sucks, we can NEVER score when we need to.

Whatever, its almost gotten to the point where I dont care anymore. If the sox lose this one, at least it will have been a good game, right?

pathetic

the atlanta braves flat out suck this season. with the players we have, we should be able to win nearly every game we play. our record is closing in on .500, and the d-rays are catching up. i do not feel good at all about this team
