Here is the current Yankee 40 man rotation

3. Brian Bruney
4. Matt DeSalvo
5. Kyle Farnsworth

10. Jeff Karstens
11. Jeff Kennard
12. Mike Mussina

16. Scott Proctor
17. Darrell Rasner

40. ???

One addition may be made without having to pass players onto waivers. One spot will open up depending on who wins the Phelps/Phillips RH 1B platoon out of ST. So this leaves 2 spots open. By the end of the yr, Steven Jackson, Ohlendorf, White and maybe Clippard would have to be added. Other options for waiving are Reese and DeSalvo. So they have options and should open up enough space to spare themselves the worry of the rule 5. But one thing that is interesting is all the crap being spun about for guys like DeJean, Schoeneweis, and Villone. As it stands, the bullpen seems full. Torre has come out and said that the yankees will have 12 pitchers on the staff. Here are the 12.
1. Wang
2. Mussina
3. Pettitte
4. Igawa
5. Pavano
6. Rasner
7. Britton
8. Bruney
9. Vizcaino
10. Proctor
11. Myers
12. Farnsworth
13. Mariano

As one can see, we are already over the limit. As it stands, Britton is likely ticketed to the minors as he still has options left. Rasner has no options left and I am not sure if Bruney has options either. But that will leave a full bullpen and rotation with a swing man in there too. Now add in DeJean or Schoeneweis and you have to waive someone, unless they have something else up their sleeve. Let me go on record in saying that I hope Schoeneweis, Villone and DeJean sign elsewhere. There are too many pegs to fit into a set number of holes.

Hughes is no longer on the 40 man, and Colter Bean is back on it (according to Yankees.com). How did this work out?

Hughes was never on it. Yankees.com made a mistake. Hughes acknowledged as much on his web site.

just wanted to say that there is high speculation that Britton will start the yr in AAA because he has options. Henn may make the team as a second lefty because he has no options left, and you dont just throw away a lefty who can throw 95. He was converted to a reliever in AAA and was unspectacular. He will get every chance to make the team.
