No. It's GREAT to have baseball back. Between the Mets and Sox games yesterday to the Yankee game today and the BC/Sox game tomorrow night, i'm having an amazing week!!

Now I can't wait to get out of school so I can get home and see the rest of the game.

on your message at the bottom you should include 2004 al east champions as well as alcs runners up
and 2006 alcs participants
if you want to really make a case for futility disappointment and underachievment.

And Yankee fans can ponder if this is the year they can buy a championship.

Thus far Igawa is looking blah. He is having trouble locating his fastball, but it is a bit harder than what they were saying. He sits at 90 and I saw one or two that was 91. His curve is average, but his changeup is absolutely dirty. His track record says that his control will return, so I'm not worried about that. Overall, interesting line

1IP 1H 3BB 3K 1ER

Impressive stuff vs what I was expecting, poor location to this point.

He is going to get hammered this year if he pitches like he did in the first inning, he gave up two bombs that were foul and only threw like 40% of his pitches for strikes. However its only his first start.

Edit- The only two to three pitches that hit the 90's were so obvisously over thrown

I hate to say it but that arguement kind of goes out the door, when we spend 100 mill on Dicek and 75 million on J.D Drew.

I had heard some scouting reports saying that he sits in the low 80s. It is nice to see that he sits at 88-89 and breaks 90 occasionally. Promising for a first outing though. That changeup is just absolutely filthy. I was expecting a better curve though.

Bronson Sardinha, the yankees 1st rounder from 2001. He is a fringe prospect these days.

Most of our late inning "heroics" in ST have been committed by the young guys. They're hungry.

not anymore. The AAV of the yankees right now is right around 180. The sox i believe are around 140-150.

Today's newsday is reporting that Abreu is ahead of schedule and will likely take some swings this week. This likely means a return date for Bobby by opening day assuming no setbacks.

Wang is K'ing a good amount today. And his heat is starting to heat up. Was around 89-91 in his first game, now sitting comfortably in the 93-94 range.

What are the contingency plans if Igawa continues to be a bust. Will Hughes go North with the team?

jacksonianmarch
03-11-2007, 08:43 PM
Igawa hasnt been a bust. Yeah his line hasnt been pretty in terms of runs, but he is right on schedule. He is striking a lot of guys out to this point. And Hughes hasnt done so hot thus far either. Hughes needs a few months to get his command down before he comes up.

Warner Wolfe gave his opinion on his Saturday that if Igawa kept getting hit that it would force the Yankees hands on Hughes. Warner's got good sources, and he is not a guy that talks out of his ass. I guess you disagree with him.

yeah, I do. It isnt like Igawa is sucking. If he is K'ing a lot of batters, then he has to have some good stuff. It is still early.

Rasner took it on the chin pretty good tonight.

jacksonianmarch
03-28-2007, 10:34 PM
yeah he did. Some nights he is solid, others he gets mashed. Overall, I see him in the low 5's in terms of ERA if he were to pitch a full season. Shitty on a bad team, but with our offense and lineup, you can be well over .500 with that. I just want him to eat innings is all. We have a very solid bullpen, but Torre loves to overwork the pen if his pitchers show they have no depth. Even with the depth in our pen (took a hit with JB Cox going down with TJ btw) Torre will burn through it if we have more Chacon's and Jaret Wright's.

He will not tolerate it from a kid. He'll be on the Columbus shuttle if he does that for Joe.

Thing is, he cant be. Rasner is out of options. And to be honest with you, a 5ERA will not kill you. The biggest problem was the 5ERA's last yr that went 5 or less innings. Hell, he gave Chacon 13 starts last yr while his ERA was 7. Rasner will get plenty of opps until Wang, Karstens, or Hughes is ready.
