What a great feeling, what a perfect night, even mike myers couldnt mess it up, though he tried. Shills is the man, and manny is a God.

This was in the New Yorfk Post and couldsnt resist sharing it with you guys.

September 1, 2004 -- IT could have been worse. Actually, no, it couldn't have. This was about more than the Yankees being crushed 22-0 by the Indians last night. And suffering the most humiliating loss of the Joe Torre era with George Steinbrenner on hand. And having the left field scoreboard reveal every minute or so that Boston was beating Anaheim.
What ranked this among the Yanks' darkest days since Stump Merrill waddled in pinstripes was the timing. This was supposed to be the week the Yankees feasted against inferior foes at home while the Red Sox, well, became the Red Sox again. Instead, it is as if removing Nomar Garciaparra has enabled Boston to lift The Curse. Boston is going positively 1978 Yankees on the Yankees. And the Yanks are going positively Mets.

The lead, once 101/2, is now down to 31/2. The Yanks look like Rosie O'Donnell trying to hold off Michael Phelps in the 100 butterfly.

Remember it was the Tribe who beat the MFY and helped us out on the last day in '78. In fact, didn't the Indians beat them in "Major League"? As Cerano said in that movie, "Keep bats warm". Go Tribe!

Sorry to disapoint, the yanks win. I can't thank enough the indians for scoring 22 to finally give the yankees the kick they needed.

You had your only real starting pitcher going tonight. I want to see you guys keep it up with Brown, Moose, Lieber, etc. before I become convinced that the Yankees are anything but a team with an offense that plays sub-.500 ball against good teams.

I like to see you beat a good pitcher. like to see you keep it up against mulder.

God damn it this is getting annoying, we crushed the Angels both times out, and we have to beat a good pitcher? How did the Yankees do against the Angels staff?

empirestrikesback26
09-01-2004, 09:46 PM
they smashed them the first time. Beat mulder, you haven't beaten a decent pitcher yet.

I think 14 out of 15 is a good accomplishment, hey why don't the Yankees beat a good team once in a while?

empirestrikesback26
09-01-2004, 09:57 PM
No, but they still matter.

Lol, a yankee fan, for once, referring to the beginning of the season and ignoring the tail end! Sounds like a Red Sox fan.

09-03-2004, 09:30 AM

schillingouttheks
09-03-2004, 12:48 PM
and didnt we SWEEP the angels last night with colon on the hill who has been almost perfect since the ASB?

and dont we have a 9 GAME WINNING STREAK????

and werent we down in the AL EAST 10.5 games and now we are within 4?

and dont we have a bigger lead in the wild card than the yankees have on us?

empirestrikesback26
09-07-2004, 06:59 PM
yea you did, but now it's gone because somehow you lost to texas. 5 runs in the 9th. Great bullpen. Buhle and fatboy colon are not good pitchers. Mulder is.

CrespoBlows
09-07-2004, 07:32 PM
somehow the Yankees lost to Baltimore 2 out of 3 in Yankee stadium?

empirestrikesback26
09-07-2004, 07:34 PM
lol, I wouldn't talk if I was you. The O's have owned the red sox this year.

schillingouttheks
09-07-2004, 07:55 PM
and i wouldnt talk if i were you, so far the sox have owned the yanks this year bud, and are going to take at least another 4 from you. and dont tell me colon and zito are bad pitchers, both have had drastic turnarounds since the ASB, and buddy, dont talk about us losing to the o's...u got fuckin shutout by a complete game by ponson...who by the way...SUCKS.

Wait, weren't the Sox supossed to go on a slide? Nope, we swept the Angels, who the Yankees played well against :harhar:

empirestrikesback26
09-07-2004, 08:07 PM
huh? 3 game sweep means being owned? times have changed. Zitos good, I'm talking about him, though the yanks own him. Colon sucks. ponson has turned around too since the ASB.

schillingouttheks
09-07-2004, 08:25 PM
SO HAS COLON AND ZITO...DONT TELL US WE HAVE BEAT SHITTY PITCHERS THEN SINCE THATS YOUR EXCUSE FOR US CRAWLING UP YOUR ASS IN THE EAST.

empirestrikesback26
09-07-2004, 08:50 PM
no, thats not at all. I'm just saying colon and zito are not as goo as you think they are.

schillingouttheks
09-07-2004, 08:52 PM
yea neither is ponson bud...last time i checked we killed 2 pitchers equal to ponson, who are arguably better than the pitcher that shut you out.

empirestrikesback26
09-09-2004, 02:17 PM
haha. yanks don't look as bad, tigers lost 25-4!!! lol

schillingouttheks
09-09-2004, 06:26 PM
actually, the yanks lost by 22, and were shutout. the tigers lost by 21, and managed to score some runs.

empirestrikesback26
09-09-2004, 08:19 PM
the other team scored 26 runs. That makes it infinitly worse.

CrespoBlows
09-09-2004, 08:58 PM
The score was 26-5

empirestrikesback26
09-09-2004, 09:01 PM
when the score is that high, it doesn't really matter how much the other team scores. 26 is 4 runs worse than 22 so that makes it worse for the tigers than it does the yankees.

No, at least the tigers scored runs. The yankees were SHUT OUT. By the Indians. The definition of a shut out is not scoring any runs. The yankees did not score any runs. You can't even figure out how much worse they played than a team that scores 1 run, let alone 4, because it's impossible to divide by zero.

empirestrikesback26
09-09-2004, 09:05 PM
you can make that point, and i can make the point that the more runs counts more.

about time a yankee fan realizes what their posts are.

not always...i make a statement with no facts and then after someone disagrees I attempt to back it up.

well u could save yourself a lot of embarrassment and time by just backing it up immediately, and then we have something to disagree with. besides, the key word in your post was ATTEMPT. im glad, because you definitely dont succeed.
