To Judge Interest

Some of you may be familiar with the baseball sim league idea centered around out of the park 6 (http://ootpdevelopments.com/ootp/). I was wondering what the interest would be for an offseason baseball league here at talksox. Some of you may be familiar with a similar league at netsports.

Basically how it works is that everyone claims a team and acts as the gm/owner, making trades, resigning players, etc. It gets pretty in depth, and I can generate an entire web site with stats and everything so you can see your progress. It is somewhat time consuming for me and for the members, but it would certrainly help pass the offseason and we'd all get our baseball fix.

No claiming teams, im just wondering who would be interested and whatnot. I'd create a whole seperate category here during the offseason for this league if we have enough interest.

These things can be really really fun (not to mention addictive). So, who'd be up for it? Post if you know people who'd be interested as well.

my take on the trades, just making sure i have the right idea...if i were the cards and u were the red sox do u mean it would be like me offering u a trade? like i would offer u (not actual, just a throwout), pujols for ramirez? is that what u mean by trades?

anyway, sounds like fun and a great idea. im up for it.

Yea, you'd offer me pujols for ramirez, I could accept or reject, we'd post the finished trade, and I'd make the trade on the league.

You also set your lineups, release players and pick up FA's, etc.. It gets in depth, like I said, its time consuming.

Do you draft an entire new team...or would the rosters be like what they were for the 2004 season? And then the league goes for next season?

Ummm, having never played it, I dunno. But its fun, and its realistic, and you run the team.

You have no say in the actual games or player development really (aside from hiring coaches and whatnot).

I&#39;d do it too. I was in the same one as Yankshater, and it was a good idea except you were a player and you had to write articles and stuff to get better and I was just too lazy to write the articles.

That&#39;s 5 so far by my count. I won&#39;t be participating in any league because I&#39;d have to run it, and that would be a conflict of interests and it would be too time consuming. I don&#39;t think we should have too much trouble getting a league together then, especially since I bet a lot of people who haven&#39;t posted yet in here would like to play.

I&#39;ve come to tell all that I accept responsibility for the draining the Red Sox. I own that league and site, I took the Sox, drained them for the top spects in ball, and called it a day. :-P

But anyway, I brought this up to Yeszir, and I plan to run it with him. I&#39;m excited to do this, so lets get some more support for it&#33;

Ok, so whats happening right now is that Noah will be taking charge of the league. The league page can be viewed at http://simm.talksox.com (it is not set up yet). Teams will be assigned at the end of the season so we can all get our baseball fix during the offseason.

I realize that there will probably be a mad rush for the sox (understandably), so for the sox and the sox only I&#39;m going to set up a lottery system. All members interested in managing the sox will say so, and I&#39;ll randomly choose one person to be the owner. From that point on its first come first serve for teams. The cubs are already taken by Noah.

But this has not started yet, so no team calling or anything. This league will be open to all talksox members with 75+ posts, and all current talksox members get priority for team choosing over anyone else who may join to participate in the league.

This will be fun, I promise.

You take control of the team. You can make trades, sign new contracts, set up lineups, hire/fire managers, make waiver moves, pick up free agents, etc. You have complete control, and you trade and deal with other managers.

Noah will have the program on his computer. You post what you want in special threads here, he does it, sims a few weeks at a time, and uploads the results at www.simm.talksox.com, free for your viewing. Your goal, duh, is to win the world series. This continues for as many seasons as we can get done. Capiche?
