Personally, I think Johnny Damon's numbers would improve this season if he, you guessed it, cleaned up his image a bit. He resembles a mountain man, not a baseball player. If he hits today and helps the Red Sox to their first win, I will take it all back.

Hey, it never hurts to have Jesus on your team.

Johnny Damon CF 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 .000

He got a walk though, and the sox won. Does that help his case in your mind?

Is this really a "fight"? I thought fights were like "I HATE YOU AND DIE!"

Nothing wrong with having a sexy beast on the team...and as long the hair doesn't slow him down, it's all good.

On occasion, he hits like one of them, too.

 Cheers for Johnny, as he had a five star night both on the field and up at bat. If he keeps this up, he can grow hair to his waist. After all, winning is what we are all about. I just hope it doesn't start a new fab among high school kids. We've been there and done that.

i dont really think his look is a contributing factor to his playing ability...he made up for his 0-9 start with his 5-5 night last night :)

He scares the crap out of me! I think I want to find him in the night and give him a little trim.

You know what, I'm starting to like the mountain man approach to things. That was a damn nice throw he had today. Even though he has a semi-weak arm, he has made some very nice throws.

I know this topic is to be taken lightly but the statement that a players' hairdo or excess facial hair will effect his performance is ludacris. There's no way a certain look or style can change a players' playing ability.

"Half the game is 90% mental"

It obviously doesn't make a difference, but it's like how people think about Nomar's antics when he is about to bat.

Big Foot out there is hilarious, man. Don't you think it would be distracting trying to swing with a birds nest on your chin?

 I am sorry, but he still looks so messy, and in a way spoils the image of this winning team. Maybe I am old-fashioned and silly, because I am old, but I wish he would find the old image of Johnny who was clean-shaven, short haired and very aggressive. Great series with the Yankees. Now let's forget about them for a couple of months and let George do the worrying.

I've grown to like his messy look. Its kind of like the new cowboy up almost. Sorry if you don't like it Trudi, but I do. :D

The whole "damon's disciples" thing is hilarious. Everyone in Boston (including Johnny) is having a great time with it. It would be a shame to see him cut his hair now.

I have to agree with you there, yawkeeway, I think Damon's Do is adding some fun to the Sox this year. The funniest thing I've heard about the matter is that he walked into a dugout full of reporters and said "I bless you all."

Everyone has sort of rallied around Damon's 'do, kinda like the cowboy up of last year. Its good to have something or someone on the team that everyone can laugh at to let off steam. If the fans have fun with it and the players have fun with it and if Johnny has fun with it, I see nothing wrong with it. In fact, I'm growing out my hair to look like him. :D

I vote that we have a smiley with a beard and Jesus hair on the board. That would be awesome!
