Your ERA is almost 8 for the week. How bad is it when you're beating your opponent by 9.
You should feel guilty.

Re: Yahoo Baseball PLUS 2008
This league is a fucking joke. Members that don't manage their team for a month or two at a time should not be allowed to pop in and dump and acquire players then disappear again. their rosters should have been frozen. ORS you should know better.

Better they pop in and do something rather than do nothing.

Re: Yahoo Baseball PLUS 2008
What rules are they breaking by inactivity? I'm not going to freeze them for that. While it is frustrating for those of us that are paying attention, there's nothing malicious about what they've done. I'll admit, I'm a noob as a commissioner. I don't think I should choose the penultimate disciplinary action unless they have done something with malicious intent, like dumping all their good players for a waiver wire scramble. Especially not if it wasn't forewarned in the predraft league discussion. I have no problem doing it if everyone knows it might happen before the league begins. It's another matter entirely if I do it on a whim without warning.
What say you, league? I can agree to starting an acitivity watch now, and those with a one month or greater lapse in activity from today's date will be frozen.

I assume I'm the culprit here, so let me shed some light and then you guys can decide what's best for the league. After the draft things got pretty crazy for me. We found out/decided to move out of Virginia and back to NH (where I'm from, my wife's from Va...and this is where we've been since we got married). Since then we have moved out of our house and put everything into storage in preparation while staying with family so my only access to a computer is at the office. Obviously work changed as well and i am rarely in the office anymore, and when i am my time is very limited and everyone needs me so it's almost impossible to do anything for fantasy or post on the board. I would try whenever i could to adjust my lineup, but I've had zero time for add/drop/trade, ect.... In the last week my schedule has gotten more back to normal (alot of days I was gone from 6:30am - 10:00pm) and I am in the office 10x more than these last couple months...so I've had the time needed for my roster. 90% of the craziness is over now and I have the time needed for my team....there may be a couple days here and there where i can't do anything, but that's all.
If i had known any of this was coming when we set up the league, I would not have played so as to avoid this....i apologize for any inconvenience, it was not intentional. I will do whatever is in the best interest of the league, so you guys let me know if you think i should leave.
thanks

Re: Yahoo Baseball PLUS 2008
I vote not a problem too. My personal solution would be the following - send a PM to the managers who have been lacking in their effort to maintain a presence in the league warning them of a possible freeze of their fantasy team and 100% forfeiture of a possibility to win any league prizes (there are rare circumstances where inactive teams end up doing quite well). If they recognize the PM and we see improvement in their activity, then it is a mere warning. If they make no effort, then a month from now their team is frozen without the possibility of being reinstated. What sayest thou?

Re: Yahoo Baseball PLUS 2008
MTBKR, I figured it was be something like that as you have been a reliable player in past leagues. I hope things work out in your new career choice. My point is that this is supposed to be a competitive fun league. Fun doesn't mean drop in whenever you feel like. We have 5-6 members that have vanished for 3 weeks to 3 months at a time. Is there an effect on other teams ? Absolutely, their opponents are playing a phantom team. One that is usually riddled with starting players on the DL or NA, with bench players that never play. So the teams that get to play the phantoms pad their record. Lo and behold the phantom appears and dumps his D'L's, NA's, and other non-performers and replaces them from the FA pool. The FA pool becomes further depleted and additional talent is locked up.
I don't konw if sending a PM would have much of an effect. Freezing might help. Better member selection would help, even if it meant a smaller league.
