Re: Update to all Winners
Good points. I just hate the way teachers here and picketing and threatening to leave because they are underpaid and it's stressful. It's pretty stressful on us too. Very stressful. I don't normally throw this out in the open, but it got stressful for me to the point that i nearly dropped out and i was on anti-depressants. That only lasted a short time. But all that matters is that i passed, and hopefully i can graduate this year.

Minor point, but you might want to edit your statement. I don't think anyone in their right mind would picket or threaten to leave for being overpaid.

True, true, true! I agree the art of using words in their correct manner is all, but gone in young people today. I run a teen center and I'm contantly hearing "stupid" shit like this. I do have to agree with BigPappiEnFego (sp) that teachers picketing is stressful on our young people. I believe that teachers get paid just about what they should. I personally work a 8 hour day without a break as the Director of a Teen Center. I make a lot less than a teacher, but I would never think about picketing because if I wanted to make lots of money I wouldn't work in this field. It was their decision to become a teachers, no one forced them. I do think it would be nice for teachers to have better tuition re-embursment(sp) programs to help with paying back student loans.

Re: Update to all Winners
Lame crowd up until top of 7th inning and peaked with Pappi's walk-off.
Thank you to SFOC for the tickets, my guest's and me where and are very appreciative!
talksox.com t-shirt didn't work out so well. The red arms of the shirt bleed after washing them and turned the white body of the shirt pink. I put them back in the washer, but they where not ready for the game. If the pink comes out I'll wear them to the next game I go to (when ever that might be).

Re: Update to all Winners
I rewashed my shirts with this special stuff my mother in law had and it's white again. I'll be sure to wear them in the future!

I would have to disagree with you on this one. First let me say that I LOVE what I do and the only reason I have stayed a teacher for the past 7 years is because of the kids, definitely it's not to be a millionaire. I would never picket either, because the kids are my work force. However teachers make nowhere near what they should. A daycare provider in my area (Central Maine) gets paid $125 per kid with anywhere from 10-15 kids (do the math!)....I would LOVE to get that much per kid in my classroom of 20! And I do WAY more than babysit. A starting teacher in this area gets $25,000-$27,000. That's for a job that is not 9-5, you take the work home with you, get calls from parents at 9:00 at night, stay late for staff meetings, curriculum meetings, graduate courses, etc. Not to mention the almost $300 worth of college bills per month (at least that's what I have for 10 years). It's a good thing that teachers LOVE what they do, who else in their right mind would apply under these conditions?
Now I'm sounding like one of those lunatic teachers, so I'll stop now! It's just not a point I could stay quiet on!
