Default Best Carl Pavano story. EVER.

Taken from Peter Abraham's LoHud Yankees Blog: http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/02/1...pring-promise/
Quote:
Carl Pavano is in camp. He has to be because he’s on the 40-man roster. The Yankees asked him to accept a payoff on the final year of his deal then take a minor-league contract and he refused.

Pavano had surgery last June and almost certainly won’t be ready to pitch until 2009. He’ll be somebody else’s problem then.

To say Pavano is a pariah is an understatement. He asked one of the clubhouse kids for a small box today to store some things he had in his locker. The kid went over to a garbage pail, fished out an orange Nike shoebox, dumped a half-eated sandwich out of it and handed it to Pavano.

None the wiser, the “American Idle” (as the Post calls him), put it in his locker.

When the clubbies hand you garbage, that’s a sign your team has had enough of you.

this is usually the time of the year where jacksonian begins his ""carl pavano will win 15 and heres why"" mantra.
in 05 pavano was going to win 23 games randy johnson 28 and jarret wright 18.
i miss those days of youthful exuberance and you can see in his posting that he has suffered immensely while also maturing over the last 4 summers.
so its 2/18
how long before the FIRE JOE YERARDI chant begins?
anyways
the sox paid 20M for matt clement i think?
the yanks gave jarrett wright the same money
the yanks gave pavano 40M for 4 years as well
the yanks also gave johnny damon 50m to play part time for a couple years

almost time
6 weeks

Spring training is a fine time. Hopefully the Yankees have closed the two game gap on the Red Sox.
