Re: 2008 Yankee News & Notes Thread
Of course it's a joke when Pedro does it.If a Yankee does it it's an outrage (and rightfully so).

Yeah I admit it was pretty funny. Unnecessary, but funny.
This is interesting...A&E is putting together a new DVD set featuring "Essential games at Yankee Stadium." And they're letting the fans voteon which games to be featured.

I voted for 1977 World Series Game 6, 1996 World Series Game 6, David Wells' perfect game, and 2003 ALCS Game 7.

I put the first game after Thurman passed, Game 6 in 1996, Wells perfect game, Game 1 in 1998, and Game 7 in 2003

Re: 2008 Yankee News & Notes Thread
An essential game should be one that you win outright, not one that gets handed to you because of inept management

You have no idea. It was the single most traumatic Red Sox related experience for me and for all post 86 kids.

I'm not. Theo and the FO got serious immediately after that game. They fired Forrest Gump and went out to get Schilling and Foulke. The end result has been two championships.

I watched and lived through 75, 78 and 86.
Nothing comes close to 2003. When Little let Petey go out for the eighth I screamed "you're gonna fkn blow it." He was gassed and everyone, except Little, knew it. Worst managerial move I can recall, and it took ample quantities of Beck's and Xanax to get me through the night.

I still can't blame him for leaving the amazing Pedro Martinez in the game. In hindsight it's easy to second guess, but when your best pitcher tells you he wants the ball in that spot, especially a guy like Pedro, you give it to him end of story. It didn't work out, and Grady has been crucified since. A little unfairly I think..

I don't even remember if that one was one of the choices...let me go back and look. But absolutely, that should be in there.
