Age 18 Miguel Cabrera
LoA .268/.328/.382
Age 18 Jesus Montero
LoA .326/.376/.491
Age 19 Miguel Cabrera
HiA .274/.333/.421
Age 19 Jesus Montero
HiA .356/.406/.583
AA .319/.395/.542
Through his age 19 season, Cabrera had hit 19 homers in the entirety of his MiLB career. With half a season left, Montero has hit 32.
So, Montero is significantly ahead of the pace Cabrera set. To be fair, Cabrera's age 20 season was ridiculous in AA which prompted his callup. So, no, I am not overrating our prospects on this one. Montero is a legit offensive talent who is tearing through the minor leagues as the youngest player in his league. They also share another common thread as both are Venezuelan.
So, to reiterate for those who seem to be a bit thicker than others. Montero has a very advanced bat for such a young age. One that is not seen on a regular basis and his bat has the potential to make him a very rare and talented player. The only thing keeping him back is his defense.

Wow, you just sent my bullshit meter through the roof. No one gives a flying fuck how many home runs Montero has hit against rookie and single a pitchers... even if they're both Venezuelan
You.are.ridiculous.
Montero is a good offensive prospect who's proven he can hit Single A pitching. That's it. He IS NOT an elite prospect. Sorry, but he just isn't, regardless of how much you jerk off over him. Go try to post this bullshit in a Yankees forum and see how fast they laugh at you.
And don't go calling other people on this site thick, like you're intelligent. Please. You're the joke of this site. Even the Yankees fans make fun of you.

I agree completely. That's why it's impossible to try to argue someone saying Montero is the next Miguel Cabrera because he put up better Single A ball numbers. I could use the same argument to say Ian Kennedy is better than Roger Clemens.
Follow Yankees prospects for a few more years, read up on player development and maybe you could hang in a serious conversation about prospects. If you don't believe me, then please go into a Yankees forum and say Montero is a Cabrera type impact bat and see how fast they run you out of there.
I'm not kidding. Seriously, PLEASE go into a Yankees forum saying Montero is a Cabrera type bat and send me the link. It would make my day.
This isn't even a matter of you being biased. You simply don't know what you're talking about.

Re: Jesus Montero heads to AA
Like I said, you cannot rebut idiocy. I did not say he was the next Miguel Cabrera. In prospect circles, a Miguel Cabrera type bat does not mean that the player will hit like Miguel Cabrera. It means, that at a very young age, he has significantly advanced power, patience and contact. A ton of things could go wrong between now and when he debuts. But right now, he has a Cabrera type bat because he's 19 in a league filled with 23 yr olds and he is destroying pitching while maintaining a good K rate, a high average, a high SLG, and a high OBP

Re: Jesus Montero heads to AA
Don't know much about the kid. But considering his age and the numbers he's putting up I'd be excited if he was in the Red Sox system.
He still has a lot to prove. It's a nice start though.

http://www.projectprospect.com/artic...-prospect-list
Montero is rated as the #11 prospect in the minors at this point by Project Prospect. McCallister fits in at 34 and Jackson at 48. But, as you know, he isnt a top prospect. Nope, not at all.

Great, one person said he wasn't. I think everyone else admits he is. Get over it.

I don't think anyone cares. I get that you have a raging boner for the guy but we really don't need you to update his stats line every time he gets a hit. He's gonna spend the year in Double-A, so we can just wait until the end of the year to check the stats.
