Moose Mauled
Moose was horrible tonight against the Oriokles tonight. His velocity was around 85-86, and everything hit off him was a rope.

Re: Moose Mauled
Yanks lose 6-4 to Baltimore.
Mussina went 4 innings, 6 runs. But as jackso would say, let's wait and see how he does against the good teams to decide how good he really is...

Re: Moose Mauled
Third straight poor game in a row. The inability to hit with RISP up to this point is pretty glaring. But it is still very earlier. On a better note, Damon is doing much better, but now Jeter had to leave the game earlier. For those who didn't see the game he fouled one off his foot earlier in the game and was limping afterwards. Not sure if X-Rays are necessary. The bullpen was very solid tonight, especially Henn who had three innings of shutout relief. Myers and Proctor combined for the last two innings. Obviously the story of this game is the ineffectiveness of Moose, which is kind of surprising considering he was the one Yankee who had a really good spring in terms of results and health. But Moose hadn't pitch last Friday and we know how important it is for him to work on schedule. Not an excuse, just an observation.
In terms of Damon, he better get back soon, because right now Melky looks more lost at the plate than any other Yankee.

Re: Moose Mauled
Im not worried about Mussina. It usually takes him a couple of starts to get his velocity where he wants it. It wasnt just his velocity that did him in tonight. He had zero control over his pitches.

Re: Moose Mauled
You're right, he usually does have slow starts (I think...) He'll be fine.

Last year he was 4-1 in April however in 2005 and 2004 he had ERA's of 4.97 and 6.14 and the league hit .330+ off of him both years. So I'm not worried yet. If hes throwing 85 in June then I'll be worried.

So is the velocity the concern, or his outing? Because much has been made of his ability to work with his lowered velocity, so I really never thought about that being the issue.

Re: Moose Mauled
So, any Yankee fans concerned about Jeter? He was definitely limping around the bases tonight. I gotta give it to him, he is a TRUE gamer. Limping around the bases and batting the next inning, hustling as usual.
Is he heavier than he has been in the past?
Isn't it weird that there will be a 'last game' for Jeter someday? He seems like one of those immortal players who will die playing baseball.

He had a fucking bruised foot. You make it sound like he had gotten his foot amputated.

Is 195 pounds the fattest he's been? Jeter's never had a lot of range at SS, anyway. He could be regressing due to age, but I don't think he looks heavier.
