St. Bernard and I believe half of old Marge's problem was she was drinking heavily from the flask around the dogs neck.
She must have been rolling over in her grave this weekend when they announced that Dusty Baker was the new manager.

Yeah, my bad, I always got confused and thought she was the St. Bernard.

He does have a very charitable side and tries to do a lot of things for a lot of people. Always gave people second chances, whether it be players or people he knew personally. If anyone was struggling he would either sign them hoping to get the best out of them, or would provide people with little positions within the organization to get them back on their feet. While yes, he has definately had his outbursts and absolutely been a hard-ass prick in the past, made mistakes and paid for them; it's not right to turn a blind eye to all the good he did. He'll still maintain a role in the organization, and while not having him at the helm of things the past 2 seasons has been unusually pleasant, it's going to be very awkward having him in an even more minimized role from this point on.
While a lot of his thoughts and decisions were misuided, he always had the best intentions in mind. A selfless man willing to do what it took for his players, fans, and staff.

Selfless? Dave Winfield disagrees. He help usher in big-money free-agency with all of his selflessness. Do you think it was because he gave two shits about player rights?
Good riddance.

No. He gave a shit about winning. That was it. Was he a perfect owner? No. Did he make mistakes? Yes.
What he did do was care about his team, and did the best he could to put a winner on the field for New York. Realize, the real dark days when were CBS owned the team. The Yankees had the best winning percentage of any team in the 1980s. They also won 4 Championships in 5 years under his helm once, and twice in the 1970's.
He put his money, his mouth, his persona on the line. He delivered. Not every time, but as best as he could. Find me a New York fan of another team that doesn't want a Steinbrenner running his team.
The real crappy owners? Guys like Pohlard, who can buy Steinbrenner many times over but pockets the money. Owners whose teams pocket the revenue sharing money and don't throw it into player development or free agents. Like the Pirates. Or the Royals. Or the Devil Rays. Or the A's. The list goes on and on.
I'm glad Steinbrenner owns the Yankees, and I hope his helm lasts for much, much longer. The man is definitely a cult of personality. He has given his team, his fans, much to cheer about. He is brash, rude, obnoxious, full of bluster and bile, but generally with a heart of gold, rushing to aid to those in need. He believes in winning...at all costs.
Sounds like a New Yorker to me.
Outside of this country, to the rest of the world, it would sound like America personified.

Yeah, theres nothing wrong with rooting for a team that plays in the city you live. They compete with the Yankees 6 times a year, so with the exception of those 6 times I hav no problem rooting for the Mets. Lots of people have allegiances with more than one team, if I were to guess I would say that the Red SOx werent the only team you pull for.
Now how many more times are you going to point out that I root for the mets too? Seems like every other post of yours that I read there is some mention of it.
...also, how is this relevant to the post of mine that you quoted? Just another Boston bum who has nothing better to do than try to pull strings and instigate conflict.

You know, I would probably like Kilo if he was a Yankee fan. Since he isn't, fuck him.

He did finally swallow his pride and sort of apologize to Yogi Berra (the most decorated Yankee World Champion-- 10 Rings) after holding a grudge against him for about 15 years keeping the proud Berra away from the stadium all those years. Where's the apology for Zim. He said that he would not say hello to the Boss if the Boss walked into his house. The Boss was pretty mean and nasty at the end. He hurt him more than Petey did when he spiked him.
