Default Lupica opens the door for Arod

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ba...x_rodrigu.html

The bar is supposed to be set higher for him.

And yet his numbers are so low in the last three postseasons and when the Yankees began to fall apart against the Red Sox in 2004 that you need to scrape them off the bottom of shoes. The first six guys in the Red Sox batting order all did more for their team against the Indians than A-Rod has done for the Yankees lately.

God help me i do love when they eat their own

Sweet, sweet schadenfreude.

And right in the crazy happy scene at Fenway Park when the Red Sox won a pennant Yankee fans still think should have belonged to them was a kid who looked like a bat boy. His name is Dustin Pedroia and he plays second base for the Red Sox. In two innings of Game 7 and two at-bats against the Indians, he knocked in more postseason runs for his team than Alex Rodriguez has in three years for the Yankees.

Great article Crunch!

Loved the Pedroia reference, also:

At a time when A-Rod and his bagman, Scott Boras - who loves the sound of his own voice lately the way Mother Teresa loved the poor - want the Yankees or somebody else to invest more money in him per season than any ballplayer in history, how invested are YOU in A-Rod's future?

Boras, the agent, is one of the great buttoned-down phonies of baseball in this way: Every time he has a big client looking for the biggest possible money, he talks about organizations and relationships and "dynamics." Boras is huge on dynamics. But everybody who knows his record and his client's record knows that the only dynamic here is the most money
.

I'll never understand anyone wanting the Red Sox to pick up this guy, seriously.

If it is doable financially - I will accept A-Rod in a hearbeat. It's not we have all classy and humble players here anyway in the roaster - whatever works to get to a championship.

It is easy to point out his failures - but without him Yankees miss the play-offs by at least 5 games. To be successful in the play-offs ( which is more of a crap-shot) - you will have to get there - which is quite an achievement.

That said - Borass will probably ask for too much that we may be better off spending elsewhere. Any player is just a pitch away from career ending injury.

Chance that A-Rod is a red sox next year is about 30% now in my opinion. Also - check this out.

Sure he helps them get to the play offs, but what has he done to help them in the play offs. NOTHING! Fuck him, I'd hate to EVER see him in a Red Sox uniform.

Are we in a circular argument here? Let's talk about it logically if we may. A-Rod gives any team a great chance to go to the post-season. Post-season success is a crap-shot. Guarranting a post season birth is what A-Rod acquisition does - what happens after that is in noone's control.

Here is another think to ponder. A-Rod has bad post-season number in New York. He did OK in Seattle. What is to say he will not do OK in Boston?

You may personally hate his guts and do not want to see him in your team's uniform. Does that make it a valid argument why we should not try to get him? What do you think?

ARod wasn't just OK in Seattle in the postseason. He was pretty damn good.

Of course that doesn't make a valid argument. But the fact that we have gotten to the post season in 04, 05 and 07 without him is. Let someone else overpay for him.
