Malefice
Killswitch Engage
All That Remains
Disturbed
In Flames
Scar Symmetry
Mutiny Within
Ekotren
Haste the Day
Trivium
Bullet for my Valentine
Cradle of Filth

As you can see, I went through a metalcore phase. Still headbang to some of that stuff but I'm moving past it. I just bought the collector's edition of Machine Head's Unto the Locust and I'd recommend it to any metalhead out there. It's worth the money.

Not a huge fan of rap-metal, especially Tool, Rage Against the Machine etc generally, Disturbed may be the exception. They're on the border somewhere; they get heavy sometimes but I think they consider themselves hard rock or possibly nu-metal.

Dude, did you just call Tool rap-metal?

Yeah I did. My bad...still don't like em though.

I'd like to add these bands to my list:

White Wizzard
Holy Grail
Cattle Decapitation
Children of Bodom
Lamb of God
Pantera
(Roadrunner United)

I want to like Cattle Decapitation, but their songs are too much of a mess.

I wouldn't say you're wrong. I hardly consider myself a fan of the deathgrind genre. But after I moved from MA to CA, I found out about Cattle Decapitation. I like em, their latest album was probably their best. They have a few really good songs and a few I wouldn't listen to just for kicks. I say extra points to them for naming one of their albums "To Serve Man", for any Twilight Zone fans out there.

The other bands I recently listed I'm starting to explore a little more. Holy Grail gave me a good impression of power metal. Wasn't Eric Gagne a big metalhead? I remember reading that somewhere.

I love metal! I really would wish that I would be able to visit a big metal festival once! I saw some smaller ones and it was amazing!

I'm going to see In Flames and All Shall Perish in February!

Oh and Battlecross and Demon Hunter will be there. Don't care too much for them though.

I can appreciate everyone having their own opinion...but can you at least explain how you reached this conclusion? Seriously.

To not like Pantera is one thing, but to consider them one of the most overrated metal acts of all time is absurd to say the least.

Name a few metal bands that you consider awesome. I need to know whether or not you comprehend what you're saying.

BPEF, what are your thoughts on the new Baroness and Neurosis records?

I liked them both. I haven't listened to the Neurosis one a ton but I liked it when I first heard it. But I really liked Baroness. It's not heavy at all really but I still dig it. One of my favorite and most listened to albums of 2012. I don't really know if John Baizley can do anything terrible...

I think Yellow is great, but am not really into Green. Green seems to have more filled and just doesn't go anywhere. Lacking teeth of Blue or Red.

Honor Found in Decay is alright. People have compared it to Souls at Zero, but I don't know. It's better than TEOES, but weaker than the other records since Times of Grace.

I notice everyone really likes Yellow more than Green. I can agree. I really like Green still though, mainly because of stretchmarker. That song is beautiful. Mtns(The Crown and Anchor) is really good too. But that side of the record does seem to not really go anywhere. I couldn't see HFiD being like Souls at Zero though. Overall it's good but it's kind of standard issue Neurosis so it's like I may as well just listen to other Neurosis instead

Used to be something of a Machine Head fan, but lost contact with their stuff after The Burning Red, until recently. They seem to have become a caricature and I can't take them seriously any more, but I'm feeling low and decided to listen to Burn My Eyes (for the first time in over a decade). The opening riff of Davidian never felt so comforting.
