Harry Potter 7
It came out at midnight this morning. My parents actually went out and got the book (I did not), but I read the first four chapters. I'm not as into it as a lot of other people, but it's a solid series.

If you tell me what happens, I swear to your god I will hunt you down, scoop out your eyes with a butter knife and pound the sockets full of crushed glass with a fucking rock.

Re: Harry Potter 7
I read the first four books several years ago and enjoyed them, but there was such a dead period in between books 4 and 5 (it seemed like around 2 years) that I totally forgot everything that had happened. I didn't want to go back and re-read everything, so I've just stuck to watching the movies since then.

Re: Harry Potter 7
I wish I could remember which one off the top of my head, but a Minor League team had a Harry Potter night promotion. They encouraged kids to dress up as wizards and witches and worlocks, had a parade or something, and told everyone to stick around after the game so that they could get a copy of the book at midnight when an armored truck arrived to the ballpark with copies of the book.
I dont know what you guys think about it, but I fidn that very, very disturbing. I'm sure it was a nice money-maker though, I'd just find it hard to look at myself in the miror if I was the director of promotions who organized this nonsense.
...for the record, i've never been much of a Harry Potter fan. I read like 3 or 4 chapters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and haven't picked up a Harry Potter book since.

Re: Harry Potter 7
Youre missing out. Rowling acknowledges that her readers are maturing, and writes the books accordingly. They are increasingly longer, more well written, have better plots and are shades darker. I love them, but I cant read the first two because they were written for 12 year olds and that's why Ive been waiting so long for the seventh book.

Re: Harry Potter 7
I took the chance of coming into this thread being spoiled
I'm on page 402 right now. This book really sucked for a little while. The first scene sounded amazing. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.
I'm gonna finish it now.

Yeah, but you saved yourself from reading 800 pages.
Unless you read the book......

I wanted to read the book, or at least parts of it, because I had read the first four. I made the mistake of opening a thread that said, "Harry Potter."
Needless to say, I learned of everything in the book within five seconds.

Already read the wikipedia article. My roommate is obsessed with Harry Potter and often gets into pissy moods for no apparent reason so the first thing I did was read the ending so I can threaten to ruin it for her if she doesn't play nice.
That's the first time I've read or saw anything Harry Potter.
By the way, I'm under the impression that the book sells for $20... my question is... WHY?! They could charge $50 for that and I'm sure just as many people would buy it.
