Over the past 5 years, Mirabelli had averaged 10 passed balls. Before tonight Cash had 4, so he is on pace for a few more than 10, but less runners are taking second base uncontested, so I think he is at least a wash defensively.

7-4. The announcers are incoherent.
These two guy have been like this for 10 years already. I am pretty sure that it must be drugs or just plain and simple stupidity.

I thought Tavarez was going to role the ball to first.

This could be a good showcase for JT. Is there anyone on Colorado who can help us this year or is the FO looking for a prospect?

This is a rare case where I concur with your position but I've got to say that the stats disagree with us both. Between passed balls and errors, Cash is almost (not quite) as bad as Josh Bard was in his brief time with Boston.

Subjectively, I think that Kevin Cash is as good as any catcher I've ever seen, including Pudge Rodriguez, Tony Pena, Bob Boone and Jim Sundberg in their primes. The stats don't support that this year for Cash, although they did in 2007.

I don't know what's more ugly...

The bases being loaded.
Or Tavarez's face.

Aardsma in the pen.

I think it is more rare when you disagree with the stats than when you agree with me. My positions can often be supported with stats although I rarely get into the depth that you do.

There's nobody who could help that they're planning to trade. The possible exception is Atkins, but he's worth far more than Tavarez.

I think that any deal would be a second-tier prospect for Tavarez, but with Colorado assuming some/most of the contract liability for Tavarez.
