Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
Woo fucking hoo!!!!!!!!!!
Jason Bay with the crushing blow
Lester going 7 strong. He had the look of Beckett especially in the bottom of the 6th (after the HR), striking out the side in order. Just for kicks, Papelbon ends the game by striking out the order. God I love this team
Ellsbury has brought his hot bat & sterling D into October
Haha to Vladdy
Up next, Dice vs Santana!!

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
couple things here before i fall asleep and knock over the trash barrell.
lowrie and masterson were shaky but ultimately didnt beat us.
the jake is playing jake ball,he gets on base like that and we are a difficult team to keep down,he got on base all night, great defense all game and a couple steals is ricky hendersoneque or even johnny damon vintage 04...jon lester is establishing himself as the best left handed pitcher in the american league and i think he couldve gone 9 if he had to...
some day he may have to..i didnt realize paplebon is only 75% effective in 1 run games?
anyways
it was a total team effort from soup to nuts and once again those faggots from california have a lot to think about as they go against a guy who is 9-0 on the road and a game 7 winner from last years alcs
i hope sundays game is a matinee, i dont feel like battling the boston cops after they clinch the series sunday night.

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
AWESOME win last night.
For what it's worth, Lester has started the last two playoff games for the Sox and has allowed NO earned runs in 12 2/3 IP

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
He was aggressive when he didnt need to be.
this guy did steal 40 bases 1 year didnt he?
in any case he attempted to get to 3rd with 1 out and i cant blame him too much for that effort, lowell faked his ass out by standing 15 feet from 3rd base and youk made an excellent throw to nail him.
this angel team isnt that bright intellectually and it translates onto the field in what i call ""the compton factor""...Stupidity isnt illegal but it should be

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
One year he was speedy yes... but last night he looked like he was on his last legs. Once I saw him hobbling to 3rd base, I knew he was meat

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
hes had some back issues and intellectually speaking he has the mind of a 10 year old
this is a fact, the man is borderline retarded but he can hit anything.
imagine what this guy wouldve been had he developed plate discipline and wasnt myred on that expo team for years?
hes regressed over the last couple seasons and it could be that he is on his last legs
i am greatful that the yanks opted for sheffield over him a few years back, 5 years ago the thought of him in pinstripes would make me shit yellow.

Wait, perhaps a better comparison is Jason Marquis, 2004 World Series, when Ortiz nailed him hanging off third indecisively?
Whatever the case, bad baserunning, but a tremendous reaction by Youk to even put himself into position to make the play.

Re: 10/1 @ Angels: ALDS Game 1
I know it isn't important, but I would like to give some credit to Jason Bay for his reaction to the home run. He was very humble about it. He looked for maybe a split second, then he put his head down and jogged quickly around the bases. Very sportsmanlike, in my opinion.
