Re: 9/28 vs. Toronto - Clinch Day
What the sweep allowed was the sox to actually celebrate their wild card berth. Cause if they were still in play for the East, and clinched a playoff berth, would they have celebrated or no?

Why not? Every team that makes the playoffs should have the chance to enjoy their playoff bids.

They would have (and should have) celebrated whenever they get into the playoffs. It has been a good year, another mid-90's win season for Tito and the Sox FO and their core of players. It is definitely worthy of celebration whenever and whereever they are.

Yeah, celebrating means a lot to the players but as a fan, I couldn't care less how they go about it.

Unless of course, they decide to ritually sacrifice an infant on an altar made from human skulls, and then drink its blood and have a massive orgy. In that case, I'd have to say I'd rather they just have some bubbly.

They would have, because their chances of winning the division would have been remote. Think back to the 2007 Yankees.

at least if and when we clinch it will be at home. it would be nice to do it front of our deserving hometown fans. we are home the rest of the year so it will happen. i hope its because we win not because texas loses.

Re: 9/28 vs. Toronto - Clinch Day
Screw a celebration, they still need to stay focused on the goal. I could care less about making the playoffs unless we actually win a championship. Honestly, if we were to lose game 7 of the World Series, I would rather just not have made the playoffs in the first place. Less heart-wrenching and less wasted time. Making the playoffs is meaningless without the ring... at least for us big market teams.

Seriously. Making the playoffs is what teams play the regular season for. It's never a waste of time.

Are you a closet Yankees fan and just haven't found a way to come out to everyone yet?
