Needless to say, not exactly what you're looking for either way when you commit the dollars that Theo did w/ Lackey and Beckett.

One thing I noticed about Lackey when I looked over his splits, situational pitching, game logs, etc. was that Lackey's tends to be a streaky pitcher, so I'm not so concerned that he's been lackluster so far. 2007 was the one exception where he was good in pretty much every month. But other than that...
2008 - ERA of 1.44 his first two months of the season, ERA of 6+ in July and September
2006 - ERA of 2.95 April through July, ERA of 6+ in August
2005 - ERA of 5.61 in April, ERA below 3.15 the rest of the year
