Mirabelli for Bard and Meredith in my book.

Escorting Belli to the Sox game like a celibrity just added extra negative credit for that trade.

I'll go with the Mirabelli trade.
BTW, anyone look at Arroyo stats in 2008? 8.63 ERA in the NL? Chris Carter might be the best player out of the three.

Yeah - I think WMP lost his spot in National's line-up.
Any idea how Carter is doing in the minors this year?

Pena started the last three games, before sitting in today's game. He's hitting .364 this month, after coming off the DL with an injury.
The Red Sox probably could have gotten Cueto, or Votto, if they wanted to wait for a prospect.

Cueto has cooled down after a sizzling start.

I don't know. He was very servicable and cost controlled pitcher after he took the hometown discount. We got nothing out of WMP - so far that trade has sucked for us. May be Carter will change it.
But may be that was the 3rd worst trade for Theo.

WMP did hit .300 with power in 2006.
WMP was never a good bench player. Tito insisted on using him that way in 2007, and he sucked at it--when he went to the Nats and started regularly, he was great again despite a late-season injury.
I don't blame Theo for WMP, I blame Tito for misusing him. Furthermore, I'm a big Chris Carter fan if you're talking hitting (not fielding)...the Arroyo trade is not yet over.

Good move by both teams. The Reds had a top flight prospect waiting in the wings, and got a good pitcher in return.
It's too bad that the Reds hired Dusty Baker. Corey Patterson looks great in CF.

Re: eric gagne
The main reason why I think Gagne trade was A REAL bad idea ( in hindsight of course).
From Rotoworld:
Quote:
Engel Beltre went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI for low Single-A Clinton on Sunday.
David Murphy and Kason Gabbard have already paid dividends, but Beltre has the most raw talent of the players the Rangers picked up from the Red Sox for Eric Gagne last summer. The 18-year-old is batting .295/.331/.446 in the Midwest League.

Yeah, because I'm sure you know exactly who Engel Beltre was.
Please, STFU.
