Re: 2008 Everybody else Game Thread
Snider singled a guy home from 1st (with a throwing error) to tie it on Nathan, 4-4. Snider in scoring position with 2 out.

Re: 2008 Everybody else Game Thread
Sweet week this has been. If the Yankees beat Tampa Bay tonight, just like that the deficit will have gone from 5.5 to 2.5 games

Minnesweepta? The Twins are quickly falling out of the race. 9-0 Jays, tonight.

I couldn't understand how they stayed in the race as long as they did. They have 3 players: Mauer, Morneau and Nathan. Everyone else is a nobody or not ready for prime time.

Re: 2008 Everybody else Game Thread
For a while there, when things were going good, they had the highest BA with RISP (they still may). That helps.
They don't walk people, and play excellent D.
All three together isn't a bad mix.

Good coaching doesn't make up for the lack talent and experience.

Re: 2008 Everybody else Game Thread
Hitting well with RISP, not putting people on base for free, and playing good defense are all things I'd call talents that can lead to winning baseball. They lack headline star power, but they play good baseball. How badly do you think they regret trading Santana right now? Making the playoffs, something they do if they keep him, and getting the comp picks at the end of the year has to look good in comparison to choking down the stretch and watching the return they got struggle.

They did have spots during the year when they played very sloppy. They were a strange team to watch throughout the season. When they played well, their fundamentals and defense were extraordinary, but when they went bad the wheels fell off. They threw the ball all over the place and made a ton of mental errors. They should become more consistent with this year under their belt. As for Santana, they must regret that they didn't take either of the Red Sox offers.

Re: 2008 Everybody else Game Thread
Ill take that. The Red Sox head into the Rangers series with a 3.5 deficit in the divsion (Can't wait for the Tampa series coming up), and a 5.5 game lead in the wild card
