It looks like it would have been the equivalent of Barnes, Brentz, Wilson, and Britton, maybe a bit more. I still probably wouldn't have made that deal, but it isn't as crazy as some expected it to be.

Well now we can be sure that the DBacks are serious about trading him and that it is not just a charade.

idk it's odd KT focused in on the team Upton had over and over again stated he would not accept a trade to. Rangers are moving on say most recent reports. Atlanta would like to pair the Upton brothers up but seemingly don't match up. It's really an odd situation.

Agreed. It really sounds like Towers should have had all the signs that Upton wasn't going to Seattle. Not sure if he maybe thought that Upton would change his mind if a deal actually ended up in place or what, but it all seems pretty silly.
I can't imagine the relationship between team and player here is good at all at this point. It's clear that Arizona has always put a higher price on Upton than any potential trade partner. I wonder if this is one of those ones where they're eventually going to have to cut their losses and take less than what they wanted just to get rid of him.

Mets Showing Strong Interest In Brian Wilson
By Zach Links [January 13 at 10:03am CST]
The Mets are showing strong interest in former Giants closer Brian Wilson, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (on Twitter). *Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson watched Wilson yesterday in a private workout.
Before the New Year we learned that Wilson narrowed down his list of suitors in half from about nine or ten to approximately five. *The Giants are open to a reunion but are only willing to give Wilson a deal with a low base salary and performance-based incentives. *The 30-year-old made only two appearances in 2012 before suffering a season-ending elbow injury.

Their end of game bullpen was pretty atrocious last year.

It was as bad as the rotation were. 2nd most blown saves in the league. Padilla, Melancon, Bailey and Aceves, none of them have ERA under 4.50

I was referring to the Mets. But yes, the Red sox late inning bullpen was also atrocious.

I thought you wanted Wilson on the Red Sox...nvm. Personally I would pass. We have too many 'air head' relievers.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
I'm sort of surprised this is the first team we're really hearing about with that kind of interest in him. Even with two TJ surgery's, it seems like with everything that happened last year with closers and everything more people would be interested.

The Marlins signed Nick Green. Sounds like they'll be joining the Cubs at the bottom of the NL

They have a powerhouse starting staff and bullpen. Their hitting is pretty good too. They will be a force again in 2013.

Cue the second draft pick to the Yankees. Makes me happy. Soriano wouldnt be that big of an upgrade on our team since he'd be relegated to the 7th inning if Mo is healthy. But his departure clears $13 mil in salary and gets us a $1.3 mil pick in the draft with which to play with

Soriano
Clippard
Storen
Garcia
Nats must love ex-Yankees. They're probably rock hard for Boone Logan.

Geez how quickly that team got built by scoring two of the best draft choices in a decade. There's other moves too, like acquiring Gonzalez. And Zimmermann emerging as one of the best pitcher.
