They took 2 steps forward, a step back and a few steps sideways. I dont see the logic in loading up on expensive contracts for guys on the wrong side of 30 when their team is a few yrs away from contributing. They're going to go from doormat to .500

They aren't bad contracts for those two players. They can continue to rebuild with two more building blocks under team control.

It's being reported that the biggest cheques the Mets have to write to outfielders this year are to Jason Bay and...Bobby Bonilla.

Lars Anderson got DFA'd again. What a bust!

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
It be insane to give a 30-31 year old SP 200M imo. I don't care how good he is. It's just begging for trouble. I wouldn't want the Red Sox to pay him that.

That is probably the floor. Even with his age he might pull a Felix deal.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
Why is Mike Trout's agent upset? He knows the rules. For the first three years the team gets to pay what it wants - why are they gonna do more than pay the lowest that they can? It's a business. Mike's best bet is keep hitting and fielding like this and he's gonna get his $$$ sure enough.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
So, apparently the Rangers have decided to look at Kyle Lohse again. And yet, Boras refuses to budge from a 3/45 contract. Hilarious.

Boras is kind of looking a bit silly this offseason. He got Bourn screwed with a contract less than Swisher's while bragging about being able to get him a lot more. Lohse still doesn't even have a team. It's nice to see teams maybe stepping up a little and not paying more than they value a guy at.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
More reports that Boras still looking for 14-15 annually. Seriously bro, lay off the crack pipe and get Lohse a job before midseason.

Last I saw he was trying to get a Dempster type deal for Lohse.
