I don't know what Ben's plan is, but he's shouldn't be missing out on decent deals like that one. The options are running very low -- mostly NL West pitchers who will get hammered in the ALE now.

Looks like the infield log jam has been broken a bit. The DH spot is now open, but they still have too many IF, IMO.
1B: Mike Olt, Mitch Moreland
2B: Ian Kinsler, Jurikson Profar
SS: Elvis Andrus, Jurikson Profar
3B: Adrian Beltre, Mike Olt
Olt and Profar are too talented and ML ready to play on the bench or continue to marinate in the minors.
Still think there's another shoe to fall here.

I'd assume they'd like it to be Moreland realistically speaking. Heard talk of them moving Kinsler over to first base.

ESPN just reported that the Dodgers are about to sign Greinke.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
Nothing official yet, but it looks like it could happen. If it does I'm guessing it's 6/150 with maybe a 20M option. It's going to be absurd lol
Almost guarantees Hamilton goes back to Texas.

It's a six-year contract worth $145MM, reports Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times (Twitter links). He emphasizes that the deal is not done yet.

Ok, I was close

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
Six years and $145 mil on him and I'm going to be laughing my head off all night. Granted, he's the best on the market, it's really ridiculous seeing teams overpay this much just because someone is the best on the market.

Re: MLB Hot Stove 2012-2013
This has to put their payroll over $200M, and I doubt they're done yet.

Rangers Still Interested In Acquiring Justin Upton
By Mike Axisa [December 8 at 9:41pm CST]
Even though they've lost out on Zack Greinke, the Rangers still have interest in acquiring Justin Upton according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says (on Twitter) Texas might also look into free agents Anibal Sanchez, Michael Bourn, and Kyle Lohse.
The Rangers have been discussing three- and four-team trade scenarios with the Diamondbacks about Upton in recent days. The Rays, Indians, Mariners, and Royals have all been connected to the blockbuster at some point. Texas reportedly hoped to both acquire Upton and sign Greinke, so they could now pursue a trade for R.A. Dickey or James Shields to satisfy their pitching needs.

It's over by 200M now, I just did a quick count and hit 200M when got to Nick Punto's salary. Byt that was just this years amounts, not sure what the payroll is when having to use the AAV of deals.

This has to be kind of weird as a Yankee fan right? I mean I'm 30, so for most of my life it's been an absurd thought that someone could outspend the Yanks. Maybe not you, but I'm sure part of the fan base is going through an identity crisis

Well if the heat gets to be too much in LA he can leave in 3 years,

Greinke has a full player opt-out clause after the third year of the deal, a Dodgers source tells Jim Bowden of ESPN.com (via Twitter). Furthermore, if Greinke is traded during the course of the contract he can opt out at end of year.
