On a fairly regular basis, although I have a feeling that a severe over pitching led to some of his problems, he does own the record for career walks, but at that time pitchers didnt follow strict pitch counts.

now the average pitcher even at that time didnt reach anywhere near 200 pitches on a regular basis, Nolan Ryan was just a freak, but 140 wasn't unheard of at all.

Of course you cant be THAT dominant if it takes you 200+ pitches to get through 9 innings right?
