Best Free Agent out there. The one with the least ?'s, unlike Zito and Matsuzaka.

Re: Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
I agree get him now and lock him up long term the 3rd base is set for the future, I would expect being around Manny and Papi wouldn't hurt his hiting either, trade lowell to s.d for linerbrink and use him as set up or give him a shot at closer.

I actually give him 15-16 million over 4-5 years, with a no trade clause. We need him and we need to keep him from the Yankees.

unless the Yankees trade A-rod, which I dont see happening there would be no reason for Ramirez to go to New York.

Re: Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
ARAM could be what the Red Sox front office was being hush hush about, because you can't discuss another player under contract. This I think is the player they have been waiting for. He would fit in great with Boston in the 5 hole, and his batting might even get better being around Manny and Papi. Just some thoughts nothing i've read of course just some forum speculation.

Re: Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
I wish the Red Sox would go get him, I know they could do it. But it does seem ARAM is leaning towards the cubbies and that this was just a move to get a little more money out of Hendry. But you never know what team might offer him.

Re: Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
If he comes at 13-14 million for 4 years sign this guy.
He's a 30+ homer hitter with an improving glove. 28 years old means he's in his prime right now. a 4 year deal puts him at 32 which is the beginning of the decline.
Sure, the Cubbies are his first choice... but it'd be hard to turn down a chance to protect Manny effing Ramirez in the 5 hole.
This guy is a must sign. Then trade Lowell for pitching.
