Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
I actually think Huckabee's win in Iowa will greatly help McCain in New Hampshire. I like McCain and would vote for him if the election were today, so I'm happy to see that Huckabee won.
Biden and Dodd dropped out of the race, though this is hardly news as it's not like they ever had a chance to begin with.

Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
1st time i heard huck was on the bill maher show
now you ask why is a baptist minister from a snake handling state dare appearing on this avowed atheists show....he needed exposure
he handled himself incredibly well when getting his balls busted mercilessly by maher and he came off as very likable.
that said
i like anyone who buries willard romneys face in the dirt
mccain and obama appear to be the current front runners
nh saved bill the zipper back in 92,when he came in 2nd he was dubbed the comeback kid??
when his wife came in 3rd last night they were writing her eulogy,a bit prematurely i believe...she isnt likable, shes a fucking ___t and despite her campaigning for this job for years now she cant get the people behind her.
i dont like these caucuses nor do i think 200K people represent the national opinions but it certainly was a come uppance for mrs clinton and willard romney.
obama rose from underdog to juggernaut and if he can carry this into nh then back up the truck, lock the doors and break out the colt 45s.....we're realclose to having a black man with the middle name of hussein in the white house in about 382 days....
can a black man with the middle name of hussein win a national election?
iowa isnt a very black place and he did real well there so i suspect he can
its a great time to be an american

Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
The problem that the huckster and obama have is now they have gone from the shadows to the spotlight. People will be digging much more into their past and the pressure will be on. I think this hurts Huckabee much more than Obama as huckabee has a terrible track record (if you are a conservative) and now that will come to the forefront. The best thing he has going for him is that NH is closing in quick (and that helps McCain too) and not much can be brought out before then. It says a lot though when Terry McCaulagh and other dem advisors keep saying good things about Huckabee...........one of them last night admitted that they want Huckabee to win because they know they can beat him in the general election. (don't remember her name it was after midnight on FOX...blond with scratchy voice). The best chance the republicans have for winning the GE is either Romney or Guliani....Huckabee would get killed.
Obama has a better chance of riding this out. One thing that was telling last night was that Obama carried the younger voters and the women vote. I still think that Clinton will still come out the nominee, but it will be closer for longer than expected. A problem the dems have though is that nobody on their side have executive experience, and a senator (which they all are) has never been elected president.
NH should be interesting!

Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
i can see the DNC giving huckabee a blank check but 1 thing i learned long ago
dont ever underestimate the stupidity of the avg american voter.
anyways
mccain won nh in 00 going away
half of romneys massachusetts staff joined mccain after willard did nothing for kerry healey
willard is hated amongst a shit load of mass gop members for his carpet bagger ways
mccain won without winning last night, his campaign in nh is on fire and mitt is looking more and more like a man who's final destiny will be mayor of salt lake.
i despise romney and the false way he presents himself as a man who actually accomplished anything as governor and as a business man
im a business man
i just didnt have the luxury of a 9 figure trust fund when i turned 18

Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
Starting with a side note...I fukn hate Bill Maher. He's a douchebag.
Edwards may have hurt Obama more than Clinton. I fear many Clinton voters view the party choices as Hillary vs. "someoone else"...and Edwards showing may make him the "Hillary alternative".
On the 'R' side, I like McCain, always have, some of his ideas on immigration notwithstanding. Read this guys bio, he's an amazing man who has range of experience is enormous, and I think that experience is invaluable.
Suckabee? I don't think we want anyone who's name include "_ U C K" in it as our pres, ya know? Too easy to make fun of.

Another problem the Dems have is that they've done absolutely nothing productive since the mid-term elections except concede to GW regarding our military.
They were able to turn many people against the war, prolonging it in the process, and overtook Congress promising change during a time of government having some of the the worst approval ratings ever. A change has occurred - their approval rating is now worse than GW's or their's was before midterm. Other than that, Congress has been a stagnant morass of continued politics-as-usual bullshit. They were in the driver's seat a year ago and all they've done is f'ed up. And what do they do? Continue to campaign on "change". F'ing morons.
While I believe McCain is the best candidate for president, I think the dems will have more to do with him getting to Pennsylvannia Ave. than he himself will.

I'll be more excited 10 months from today when this shit is over. 2 years of campaigning has gotten a little old.
I truly am happy for you Sean Patrick-your passion for this stuff is amazing!

Great points YAZ. And if the Dems want to guarentee a loss in '08, they should nominate Billary.

Re: Iowa and the road to the Whitehouse
I'm excited after seeing Ron Paul get 10%. That's more than double what the latest polls had him at and helps validate his stance that the polls aren't a valid indicator of his support. And if he can get double digits in Iowa, the possibilities in libertarian NH are really something to look forward for his supporters. The independents that make up a big chunk of primary participants in the state aren't going to vote for Pastor Huckabee or Mayor Giuliani. I think he, almost certainly, gets double digits again, perhaps he'll even show.
Now, is he going to win it all? God no. But it's great to see someone that actually makes sense making some noise.
