Default Love the Sox

Hello all

I have been a sox fan for 36 years, I went to my first game when I was 3 years old. I now live in florida and Boston is my home but Fla is where I live. I am so glad the Sox won the world series, my grandmother has been waiting many, many years for that to happen and I am just sorry that my grandfather did not get to see that happen. I watch every game I can and go and see the sox every time they are in Tampa, you should all come, the stadium is great, and the prices are right. Go Sox!!!!

Welcome to the site. That said, I'm going to disagree about the Trop. Yes, the prices are right, but indoor baseball should be considered a crime against humanity. Stupid groundrules need to be made up for a roof that shouldn't be there, the field is artificially fast, and the crowd noise is artificially loud. I hope they get started on and complete the new proposed stadium before I leave FL so I can watch a real baseball game here.

And what do you make of the DH rule and astro turf?

And welcome to the new guy.

I think you can find my feelings about turf in the original post. It is an artificially fast surface. It changes the physics of the game. I think every field should be free from overhead obstructions that impact the ground rules and should have the same playing surface.

I'm ambivalent about the DH rule. Watching the pitcher hit is not entertaining, unless it's Micah Owings. And, it allows some entertaining players to prolong their careers. That said, I think it's bad for baseball overall. Youth baseball is catering the the specialization found in the pro game. My younger brother is 16 and a pitcher. He hasn't batted in a game in close to two years. That's stupid. Everyone who takes the field should have to hit. Unfortunately, the MLBPA and AL owners will not relent on the inclusion of the DH. I also think there should be one set of rules for all of MLB. Having different rules for the two leagues that make up MLB is silly. If it were up to me, I'd get rid of the DH. However, if we ever see uniformity of rules, I think it will be the NL adopting the DH.
