We'll see what they're made of coming up here soon. You can't deny that they haven't played anybody... there's some teams coming up that'll be the true test.

Re: I Love the Celtics
What you say is true, but it's not like the Celtics have exactly kept a majority of their games close...
That said, the upcoming west-coast swing is going to be pretty tough. We'll see how they do.

Jesus Christ. I've seen 5 Celtics games this year and I've seen them lose 3 times. wtf? By OT, 1 and 2pts.

Doc Rivers will be this team's undoing.

Re: I Love the Celtics
refs were bad tonight, both ways. pierce had no business taking that last shot, needed a screen for allen on that last play with 5 seconds left. doc rivers loves drawing up the pass it to paul and let him throw up an off balance bad shot.
rivers is so predictable, i called all of the plays down the stretch from him. spare me isaiah thomas, he's the worst coach in the NBA.

Re: I Love the Celtics
Tough loss. Questionable play drawn up by Doc at the end...reminded me of the past two years.
I'd rather see Ray take the last shot double teamed than Pierce wide open 10 times out of 10.

Re: I Love the Celtics
That was a terrible decision by both. Bad play drawn up and Pierce left too much time on the clock...how hard is it to do when there's only 5 seconds left to begin with.

eh, i can't blame tony though. 1.7 on the clock how's someone supposed to pump fake and get a shot off, he needed to contest it. let's face it, if he didn't contest it he'd be getting grilled for not playing tough d, so it's a catch-22 on tony and its not really fair. he was thrown in the game after playing virtually no minutes if my memory serves me correct. he had no rhythm whatsoever, blame doc for that one.
But this is what I got from this game in regards to the Celtics:
1. Doc Rivers couldn't coach a team of 5th graders to a championship vs a team of 3rd graders with downsyndrome and in wheelchairs.
2. Ray Allen is better than we all thought. He's been hitting ballsy shots all year long.
3. We're MUCH better than throwing the ball into Pierce and letting him take a horrific off balance baseline fadeaway, I could have came up with about 84739832 other possibilities. KG in the post, KG in the high post, Allen off a pick, Rondo off the dribble (no one could contain him off the dribble last night, he was ridiculous).
4. Perk's offensive deficiencies definitely outweight his defensive proficiencies. His showing on the offensive end has just been straight up pathetic. He brings every ball down to the floor, pump fakes once, and brings it up, gets fouled almost every time, never gets and ones, and always misses one of two free throws. If there is one undoing this year, this is it.
5. Eddie House, Ray Allen, and KG look like the crunch time shooters, Pierce is too selfish to be that guy. I understand he doesn't draw the plays up, Doc does, but he's gotta know a good shot from a bad one. I understand he is "Celtics", and he's been our guy for years, but if you don't have a shot don't do it all yourself, you have a bunch of other shooters on the floor.
6. Rondo CAN lead this team to a huge year. He's been supremely intelligent on the offensive end, his repetoire of moves when he drives is pretty big now. His 18-20 footer is looking great, his defense has been solid (even though Chauncey was going crazy on him, to Rondo's credit, he mad Chauncey take tough shots, but Chauncey was on last night). He doesn't just drive anymore on the fast break, he knows when to attack the rim and when to pull it back out. I really love how he's been playing this year.
7. Pollard off the bench needs to stop. Seriously. Unless we need to hack Dwight Howard, he should keep his ass down.
8. Someone needs to teach GBBD to not foul in the first 15 seconds of him coming into the game. Every time he comes in, it's a quick foul, that's been his downfall all year long when he's been getting minutes.
9. I never though I'd say this, but Scal really needs some time off the bench. He's a pretty good defender, his hustle, and his ability to hit the three is a pretty good contribution to the team just to get left on the bench.
10. Pierce is still showing immature tendencies.

Re: I Love the Celtics
All the C's were jumping through fake jumpers all night.
Big baby got his second foul in 20 seconds doing the same earlier. They knew the Celts played aggressive and jumped through jumpers so they just kept faking. Its a sign of good coaching and smart players.
Doc Rivers isn't a good coach. I used to say how awful he was, but in my opinion he should get some credit for this teams consistent 3rd quarter play. They come out from halftime with adjustments and blow teams away in the 3rd consistently, and the coach should get some credit for that

Re: I Love the Celtics
Rivers gets credit for nothing. We can be as good as we want in the third quarter, if you can't close out a game or set a friggin rotation you are completely unworthy and terrible coach.
As I said before, spare me Isaiah, Doc is the WORST coach in the NBA. He consistently calls bad plays, doesn't have a set rotation, played KG, Paul, and Ray when they should have been on the bench in 20 point blowouts. The guy is clueless, and a horrific excuse for an NBA coach. Don't get me wrong, Doc is a great guy, really knows his players, and his players like him, but he just doesn't know how to manage a game for his life.

Re: I Love the Celtics
I actually think his rotation is ok this year. It keeps the same guys playing with eachother.
He's resting his guys, too. I was at the Raptors game a couple weeks ago and we didnt see a single starter for more than 30 minutes.
Listen- I'm not saying he's a good coach. He isn't a good coach. He's a bad coach. I do, however, think he isn't as bad as you're making him out to be.
Unfortunately, I also think he will be one of the differences between this team winning a title and coming up short. Avery, Flip, D'Antoni, Van Gundy, Sloan, and Nelson will be able to make mince meat out of him.

Re: I Love the Celtics
Yes, I was at that Raptors game too, and yes, that was a change in his usual plans. He shouldn't be playing guys in the 4th quarter if they're up 20, and he plays them until 3 minutes left, its an inane strategy. I'm pretty damn fair in my evaluations here, and to say Doc is even a mediocre coach is ridiculous. His inability to even call a correct play at the end of games is pathetic. All he knows is an iso to Pierce, and even with Allen and Garnett in there, he refuses to call something different. Previous game, the Orlando game, and the game last night.
Lets face the facts, our roster is great, our bench is better than anyone could have even thought, and our coach is just down right bad.
