Re: I Love the Celtics
I saw the title and decided not to read it earlier today. People put too much stock into early season games. Beating someone by two is not showing that you're clearly the better team.

Re: I Love the Celtics
He's an animal.
He went back to the locker room with like 4 minutes to go in the 2nd, got stitches, came back to the scorers table with 2 minutes to go in the 2nd.
If I see Lamar Odom in the streets I might slit his throat, he better get a fine or suspension.
Everyone was dropping bombs last night, we really shit on them pretty badly.
Even Tony Allen was taking it to the rack STRONG. I was loving it.
This team is clicking real well. 4 game west coast swing in 5 days, got all 4 of them.
2 more games, then another huge showdown with the Pistons.
I <3 the Celtics.

there for real , even before the win last night , there 26-3 and could be 29-0 , the 3 games they lost were 2 points to orlando, overtime loss to cleveland, and the 2 point loss to the pistons , their scoring an average of 100 points a game , 86.6 on defense ( number one in the league) 3rd in FG percentage , 1st in opp FG percentage

Those are nice statistics but really, who have they played? They're not better than San Antonio, Phoenix, or Dallas.

Re: I Love the Celtics
Spurs are the best team in the NBA, to have the best record in the West while playing without members of their own "big 3" says a lot about their team. Plus they have proven they know how to get it done when it counts.

I saw validation in four West Coast wins in five days. I still refuse to judge our position overall in the NBA until after the Pistons game on Saturday. We'll either be 2 or 3 at that point, Spurs are the obvious 1.
Bottom line is they're beating the people they should beat, and badly too, it's that simple. It's not really fair to discredit the Celtics for that though, it's not like college where you can make your own schedule. You can't be like, well the Knicks blow so lets not play them and play the Spurs 9 times instead.

Re: I Love the Celtics
I think it's more than fair to say that until you beat one of the elite teams, which in the NBA, is the same teams every year, you're not "one of them".
Who'd they play on that West Coast swing? Sacramento, Seattle, Utah, and the Lakers.
Sacramento and Seattle are terrible, Utah's a .500 basketball team and the Lakers aren't an elite team, though 19-11 is a pretty good mark. That road trip proved very little.
I will say this, however, I do love that NBA on ESPN commercial featuring the big three and Jeff Van Gundy.

Re: I Love the Celtics
Still though, four games in five days is tough, even if it's all at home. The way I look at it, we beat two teams we should have, Utah is better than their record shows, and really played us tough, and we demolished a hot Lakers team on our 4th game in 5 days. That's gotta count for something.
A nice tidbit of info here.
Code:
Team Strength of Schedule
Suns .473
Nuggets .476
Hornets .478
Pistons .482
Spurs .482
Magic .492
Warriors .501
Celtics .501
Mavs .512
Blazers .516
Jazz .522
Lakers .537
I'm assuming everyone on that list above the Celtics needs to be discredited too now, right?

Re: I Love the Celtics
No.
The Suns have beat San Antonio in San Antonio, almost beat Dallas in Dallas, they've beaten Orlando twice, and everybody knows what they bring to the table and have brought to the table for a few years now. And didn't they play without Amare for a little bit?
Pistons destroyed Orlando and at least beat the Celtics.
Best team the Celtics have beat is either Denver or Orlando. I don't think either team is particularly great, though both could potentially make some noise.
And we know the Spurs are great. We know Dallas is great. We know Phoenix is great. We also know that they are playoff tested and know that the regular season isn't all important.
I'm not saying they're not one of the five or so best teams in the League... but earlier this year this team was being compared to Jordan's Bull's teams and the words "best ever" were being thrown around by ESPN. They're not that. They're not the best in the League and until they prove, against SA, DAL, or PHO that they are on that level... they're not.

Winning tonight in Detroit helps their case immensely. That was a good basketball game tonight, and who would have thouhgt that Big Baby would end up being the hero. The celtics are 29-3 now, and are clearly an elite regular season team.

Re: I Love the Celtics
I feel mixed about the Celtics, as a New Yorker I'm supposed to not like them, and I dont, as a rival ot my Knicks, but even since their late season playoff run two seasons ago I can't help but watch and follow them from a distance. They've been playing GREAT basketball and and everyone should be willing to accept that.

Re: I Love the Celtics
The Celtics are going to have to learn to play without KG...
They're really sucking without him.
