Moss deal close?????
The spots radio station down here is reporting the Patriots are close to signing Moss to a 3 year deal $30 million. I've searched everywhere, and can't find anything that backs that up. Of course, this IS Texas, so what does anyone down here know.
Anyone have information on the deal?

Re: Moss deal close?????
It seems AOL sports is pushing this:

I'm calling BS since the pats aren't going to pay him $10mil per year, and the fact that it comes from AOL sports!

geech, AOL.... There's a sports source for ya. I'd hate to think my radio station down here is reporting on AOL news, but that seems to be the case I guess... Thanks man!

Re: Moss deal close?????
They had it on SI as well, but only in the rumor section. I guess he is being made the highest paid WR in the league? He's worth it if he's healthy.

Re: Moss deal close?????
he pulled a claude rains in the playoffs
and not for nothing but brady hasnt had a good playoff game since that saturday nite in denver and he wont ever have the weapons he had like this year again.
now
that doesnt mean another year together wont bring some better timing between the 2 men but what more could we possibly expect during the season?
rarely does a wideout come onto the scene and have a year like moss has and if he gets a long term deal and is happy he should approach record #s again.
however i would like more out of him in the playoffs..
18-1 and i am disappointed
this is what too much success does for you as well...

All is not lost if he doesn't resign with the Pats though, Isaac Bruce was let go by the Rams. I don't expect he will be on the FA market very long.

Re: Moss deal close?????
Saw on ESPN this evening that Moss isn't very close to a deal.

Re: Moss deal close?????
They aren't close right now but I have alot of faith that after last season Moss will be back in A New England uniform next season.

Re: Moss deal close?????
I don't blame Moss for not being close. If I had just set the single-season touchdown record and was one of, if not the top, the reasons for being a part of the highest-scoring offense in NFL history, I would probably wait to see what type of money was thrown my way too. I think he'll end up back with the Pats, but I wouldn't be surprised if the money is what's making his decision right now.

Re: Moss deal close?????
Apparently he and Culpepper have been talking and will look for a team to sign them both.
The pats penny-pinching may finally bite them in the ass.

Re: Moss deal close?????
he already took his paycut and just had the best season (arguably) a receiver could have. At some point you have to pay the piper.

Re: Moss deal close?????
My guess is he took his paycut to build value this year for a big payday. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him somewhere else next season.

Me neither at this point. The season he just had will probably end up being the best of his career. It would make no sense if he didn't completely cash-in.
Your guess seems pretty reasonable. Maybe Moss is a smarter guy than we give him credit for... take a paycut to play with the Patriots, have a monster year on a team loaded with weapons, perhaps win a Super Bowl along the way, and then make a gigantic splash in the free agent pool. Seems pretty logical.

Re: Moss deal close?????
I think the Patriots are idiots if they let the guy go. That would be like the Yankees deciding to let Arod go after last year. Except imagine Arod hitting 75 homers.

Re: Moss deal close?????
I agree. That said, I'd be shocked if Randy Moss is a Patriot next year.
