Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
I know that the home team will get most of the calls (and that goes for the Celtics when they're home, too...because I know I have to say that), but the charge that was called on Pierce tonight while LeBron was sliding side to side was absolutely horrendous. It wasn't even a call that could have correctly been called the way it was. It was so obvious that his feet weren't set that at WORSE it should have been a non-call. The refs had swallowed their whistles the entire fourth quarter, and when they finally decide to fucking make a call, they make the worst possible call at the worst possible time that they could have. Now, I'm not going to pin this loss on just that call, because the Celtics need to stop being pussies and drive to the basket more, but JESUS CHRIST. It gives me goosebumps and freakishly reminds me of Chuck Knoblauch's phantom tag on Jose Offerman.
All that being said, I'm not that mad because I set myself up for the loss. Win in Boston.

the call was BS BUT the reason they lost is they scored 69 points . 75 would of won the game for them

Well, if BBD gets ONE fucking call when he's MAULED all night in the paint we might have a different story.
The NBA wanted to showcase LeBron in a Game 7. End of story.

Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
Last night is a perfect example of why people don't take the NBA seriously. The Celtics, more than any other time this series and even in the postseason, attacked the rim and drove to the basket. And what did they have to show for it? Two less free throws than LeBron James.
It's a joke. I'm not saying these games are fixed because that is way too much of a leap of faith. But the NBA, out of any other major sport, has incredibly inept officiating.
It's a joke. It's not fixing games but it's damn close.

I don't know... I think it is, in a way, fixing games.
The NBA tends to manipulate games to go the way they want/need them to go -- it happens too many times to be coincidental. Last night may have just been bad officiating -- it's not just "home court officiating", it's having THE superstar on your team in Lebron James.
I'll always point to the Mavericks/Heat Finals whenever this discussion comes up. Mavericks are up big in the 4th quarter with a 2-0 lead in the series... the series is about 7 minutes away from being all but over, and suddenly the Heat get every call down the stretch and come back and win the game. I had no preference in who won or lost that series and I thought it was the worst officiating I've ever seen in any sport.
You say the NBA wants to see Lebron in a game 7, but I'd also say that if Boston losing in the first round wouldn't have ruined the entire postseason for the NBA (since Boston vs. the Western Conference winner might've been the only compelling Finals scenario), Boston would've played a game five at home against Atlanta without KG and might not even be here right now.

You think they would have lost Game 5 at home without KG? Did you watch Game 5?

Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
biggest game in a really long time today
going to make or break (even though i think it is already broken beyond repair anyways) doc's coaching career and legacy with the celtics.
will he be the guy who makes the right adjustments in the biggest of games (probly not), or will he be the guy who couldnt coach a team with 3 superstars past the semis (most likely). if we win, it will be the home court bailing us out again.
doc will be wise to keep house backing up rondo instead of cassell. house played great, cassell has been a joke.
you bet your ass i'll be coming back from the game with no voice today

Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
Celtics coming out firing right now. 16-6 in the 1st. It seems like the refs are letting more contact go without calling fouls. On a side note, why the hell does ABC not have an HD channel? The quality is extremely shitty.

Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
Paul Pierce is a monster! He's got 16 of the C's 29 points. I like the aggressive style so far from the Celtics.

Re: 2008 Boston Celtics Playoff Game thread
WOW! Pierce vs. Lebron right now. Pierce with 39 and Lebron with 40. C's by 5 with 5:00 left in the 4th.
