Celts win, should be a great series against Detroit.

Good win for the Celtics. Came out early and set the tone. Pierce was incredible.

The Cavaliers could've taken two or three of the games in Boston, though, but just played sloppy basketball -- and obviously, the C's on the road should be a concern.

I think a refocused Detroit team takes it in 6 and without too much of a struggle.

That was the loudest sporting event that I have ever been to.

Unless the lay-off affects them, I agree and have the Pistons taking this series, in 6, but with more of a struggle than you seem to be implying. Experience in the playoffs was obviously an underrated concern for these C's, as it has taken two main players in Allen and Rondo out of it for the most part (at least consistently). Also, if there's any team I can see that will finally come in and steal one at the Garden it's the Pistons. Only way Boston wins is if they consistently get great play from Pierce like game 7. Garnett was little off, but nonetheless a monster on the boards.
But you never know, the Cavs though theya ren't as good a defensive team than Detroit, played great this series. If Allen isn't held to so little opportunities and great defense, maybe his re-addition will put the Green back in the Finals.
Anotehr factor to look at is this is a much different team from the Cavs, who mostly rely on LeBron for their offense, this Pistons team however has multiple scorers and will require more of a team D than just good play from Pierce/Posey.

going to make or break (even though i think it is already broken beyond repair anyways) doc's coaching career and legacy with the celtics.

will he be the guy who makes the right adjustments in the biggest of games (probly not), or will he be the guy who couldnt coach a team with 3 superstars past the semis (most likely). if we win, it will be the home court bailing us out again.

doc will be wise to keep house backing up rondo instead of cassell. house played great, cassell has been a joke.

you bet your ass i'll be coming back from the game with no voice today
Anything on Doc pulling all of the right strings yesterday?

Probably not, because all the credit will go to Pierce.

Doc actually coached a decent game. House played a lot, Cassell sat his ass on the bench
I would say "all the right strings" might be a SLIGHT mischaracterization though since Ray Allen played 30 minutes despite having been about as useful as balls without a cock since the playoffs started.

Who are you going to play in Allen's place?

He sat him for the entire 4th quarter. Doc gave him the chance to come through in the 2nd half (like he did in Game 2) and Allen failed. That's on Allen more than Doc, IMO.

Doc showed some balls yesterday. I loved that. He did just enough yesterday to pull that one out.

I couldn't believe House and Brown were in down the stretch, they were huge.

And yes, I second whoever it was that the loudest sporting event they've ever been to. It was SO FUCKING LOUD all game long.

Obviously they had someone to put in his place since he sat for the entire 4th quarter, correct?

Well, the layoff was exactly what the Pistons needed. Chauncey Billups should be completely healthy. I'm not saying the Pistons will be winning games by double digits, but I don't think a few bounces going one way or the other is going to be the difference between who plays in the Finals and who's not, if you know what I'm saying.

I know this doesn't really fit in with the theme of the thread but...

The Bulls, with a 1.7% chance of winning the draft lottery, won the draft lottery.

They should take Beasley.

The Heat will pick second.

Derrick Rose returning to his hometown a la LeBron is an interesting story though.

The NBA draft lottery system sucks.

BTW, how fucking stupid is this?

Who gives a shit that the Spurs slept on the fucking plane? I hope the Lakers sweep them.

Celtics playing well in the second half. Very nice to see...Ray still having issues but at least he's contributing defensively and has put in some points in the paint. KG is being a monster, and PJ Brown is proving to be quite valuable.

And as far as the Spurs go... I hope they weren't expecting any sympathy.
