2008 NFL Draft Thread
It begins in a little over 2 hours.
Who goes first? If I'm Miami, I take Jake Long and then a QB in round 2. That is, of course, unless I can move down and get more picks this year.

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Thread
Just noticed that about the starting time. Didn't it always start at 12? Fuckin' ESPN.
That's what I get for not paying much attention until today. C'est la vie.

Pats are getting old at LB. They just got a young, athletic replacement. Maybe a reach, but when you're 18-1 and picking 10th, you have the luxury to reach.

Well, if they already signed him, then why would they DRAFT him???
With Jake Long signed, The Dolphins take Matt Ryan 1st overall selection! hahahaha.

I think the main point of that pick was to (of course) get younger, but more importantly, it allows Thomas to move to OLB, where he's a LOT better than ILB, where he played for most of last season.
I like the pick. Everyone seems to think we need a CB, and I'm not saying we don't, but lets not forget we won a Super Bowl with Troy Brown at CB. I think it's the scheme more than the players when it comes to the secondary. This draft has a LOT of good CBs, lots of depth. It's so hit or miss... We got an additional 3rd in the trade with NO, so I think we go after the CBS in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Thread
I like my 'Skins move to drop down and get additonal picks.
Nice to see them finally address the receiving corps with a first day pick too.

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Thread
1st time i seen bb draft out of need rather than the best player available
i am a fan of rocky topfootball but i dont know much about this kid
that said
inside lb in the sec conference is an assasins gig and our front office will turn that 3round pick into a player no doubt

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Thread
Mayo is a very smart player. The Pats were able to pick him because he'll be able to pick up on their more complicated schemes more easily than other LBs in the past would have. That's why the Pats have passed up on LBs in the past...I even believe that they've said that they don't want to go young at LB until they have to due to the complexity of their LB strategies. Mayo, though, should be able to make an immediate impact. I love the pick.

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Thread
I like the Giants picks. Defensive backfield was a dire need and Phillips should be a nice addition. Plus, this kid from USC is supposed to be a pretty good cover corner, so him with Ross and Madison should make a nice 1-2 and nickel coverage package.
