maggette as a celtic?
what are the chances that a Maggette takes a paycut to go from always losing to hopefully wnning another NBA championship? also, does he seem like the type of guy that will give in to the "im not the only scorer" pattern that the Big3 did to make the Celtics successful this year? Especially since Maggette may not even start given the projected lineup. i'd love to have a talent like Maggette, but as much as he is an upgrade over Posey, does he fit into the puzzle very well...I guess Danny Ainge will have to figure that out in the next few days.

Re: maggette as a celtic?
Close to none. There are reports that San Antonio is courting him.

Re: maggette as a celtic?
i think it basically comes down to whether he wants to compete for a championship (celtics) or play with an aging team in the brutal conference that is the west and receive a nicer check. my guess is the spurs like you said

Re: maggette as a celtic?
as good as maggette is, he wouldn't fit here. he would want to be a starter, not a 6th man behind two very good wing players in pierce and allen. his minutes wouldn't be what he wanted
sure, he said he's already made his money, and now wants to win. the teams with money are filled up at the wing positions, which pretty much reduces him to a MLE player.
i've said this from the very beginning. the celtics only NEED is to lock up james posey with out MLE. james posey is just as important as anyone else on this team, and he needs to be back. the hold up right now with him i think is that he wants four years, and ainge doesn't want to commit four to him.
the celtics need to lock up posey with the MLE, i believe we even have bird rights, get a veteran point guard (tyronn lue please) with the LLE, and a big with the veterans minimum

Re: maggette as a celtic?
Tyronn Lue? He's worse than Sam Cassell.
You're better off bringing Cassell back, seriously.

Re: maggette as a celtic?
I would much rather sign James Posey.

tyronn lue is much better than cassell, he's younger, actually plays pretty above average defense, and isn't too much of a downgrade from eddie house on the shooting end.
people think lue and they think suck mainly because he's been on shitty teams his whole career (spare me the two laker championships he had, he played 40 games those two years). he played on two mediocre wizards teams, then on a pathetic magic, an overachieving houston team, a bad atlanta team, and behind jason kidd on an overrated mavericks team. he might be way past his prime from when he had 13/5 one year, but he still soots really good percentages, plays very smart and heady basketball, makes plays, and plays defense.
i think lue would be terrific coming off of the bench for 10-15 minutes a game to spell rondo

Re: maggette as a celtic?
i think tyronn lue would be a major upgrade over sam cassell. anyone that plays point guard by walking up the court and shooting it (and missing 20 times in a row during the playoffs) can be upgraded by pretty much anyone.
and apparently since the celtics won one championship they are taking the Patriots way of working the front office by disguising every move, denying reports that a contract offer was made to Maggette.

Re: maggette as a celtic?
Disagree. Give Cassell a full training camp with the Celtics and he'll be better than Tyronn Lue.

If Cassel isnt making shots, then he is an absolute liability on the court. It's like 50/50 with him.

Re: maggette as a celtic?
Not true. Cassell forces people to guard him, unlike Rondo. Notice in the Finals Kobe wasn't even playing Rondo, he was a roamer in the middle of the floor.

I agree with this, but I think Tyronn Lue is good enough of an offensive player whereas he will command someone to guard him as well.
The only reason I'd take Lue is because he looks to make the play first rather than shoot first like Cassell, and that hurt us a lot last year. Lue is a better defender as well. Pretty much we need to be looking for defense from this position, and Cassell isn't the greatest defender, there are 2-3 guys that I'd much rather have than him that I listed below.
My list of guys I want in Green next year:
Bigs
1. PJ Brown
2. David Harrison
3. Chris Anderson
4. Francisco Elson
5. Pat O'Bryant
Swingmen
1. Big Game James Posey
2. Corey Maggette
3. Michael Pietrus
4. Tony Allen
483. Darius Miles (who I heard has been working out for teams, including the Celtics)
Pointguards
1. Tyronn Lue
2. Eddie House
3. Keyon Dooling
4. Sam Cassell
