Re: Official NBA thread
They didn't overpay, which N.O. did. Hollinger has a decent article out there on it. That said, his contributions as a player and teammate, particularly in the postseason shall be missed.
The Celtics now need to find someone new to hug each player before the game.

Re: Official NBA thread
hes a winner,no doubt about it...
neworleans will be better, tuffer and more experienced with him.
the west looks like its decaying just a bit,Utah,Nawlins and the Lakers will be fighting for the top with Phoenix and San Antone just getting a little older and a little slower...I have no idea what happened to that denver franchise, they appeared to be on the cusp of doing some great things...then they got a.i...a man who never won anything but a scoring title and all of a sudden they cant play .500 ball...losing camby is huge, hes the only guy on that team that can rebound and block shots...

Denver was never on the cusp of being anything great. They won more games this season with AI than they had without him the past few years, but a familiar first round exit was still the result. How George Karl didn't get fired is well beyond me.
They say AI had one of his better years this year -- I didn't watch the Nuggets nearly enough to intelligently comment on that, but they also say 'Melo regressed in every area of his game except for his three point shooting, which makes him merely mediocre from deep, as opposed to bad. Should've traded him before his value drops this year.

Re: Official NBA thread
carmello is a far more versatile than iverson, its obvious that the addition of iverson was not what carmelo anthony needed,he needed a big man.
the nuggs have or had plenty of guards that could play
anthonys regression i feel is due to the ball being in iversons hands

If that's the case it seems like an attitude problem. I know for sure they desperately need AI if they want to have any sort of half court offense. He's a one man half court offense... before they got him, they could do nothing but run.
The biggest problem with the Nuggets is that they've always been a mish-mash of talents. They have a lot of talent on that roster but they've never gotten that whole team work thing down, and they've never committed to running the ball. They should be able to run teams out of that Pepsi Center gym with the altitude and all.

Re: Official NBA thread
ive followed the nuggs since the aba days when they had david thompson and dan issel.
in there heyday of the 70s and 80s ive seen them score 150 points in 4 straight games.
they had issel english vanderweigh thompson and other run and gunners
they were incredibly fun to watch but you never got to see them until the playoffs or an occasional game on national sports on sunday..
george karl never won shit in his career and has had some great teams to work with.
losing camby is devastating and i dont see them rising above it this year
melo needs to grow up.

Re: Official NBA thread
Artest to the Rockets.
Yao made some interesting comments, basically saying he was unsure of Artest and his attitude. Artest fired back saying that Yao hasn't played with a player that represents black culture as much as he has.
I'm not a big fan of Artest but it'll be interesting to see how this trio works together...seems like it's already falling apart before it's started.

First off, I'm guessing I'm the only Kings fan on this site? At first I thought I was the only Bucs fan as well, but I was wrong. Anyway, Artest is a good player but I'm glad we could finally get rid of him and get a nice package in return. Bobby Jackson is an ex-King and can do some good for us, Donte Green is a little raw but has a lot of talent, and the '09 1st round pick is definitely a plus. All in all we're extremely young but could make a little noise in a tough Western Conference this year.

Donte Greene will be looked at as one of the sleepers of this draft a few years down the road, in my opinion.

Very good chance of that. He's got a boatload of talent - we just have to give him some time to get adjusted to the NBA and figure it all out. A little ways down the road I think he will be a really good player.

There are so many players with the same skillset as him, but I just have a feeling he's going to turn out to be great. Didn't he put up 40 in a summer league game a week or so ago?

Re: Official NBA thread
40 in the summer league is like scoring 100 in y-ball...
greene is raw as fuck... he's got the skills to be a very good swing
but he won't get there
