Official NHL Thread
Well just for the people that care, and sculpted from the ever so popular "The NBA Thread", I have created this thread. Not to mention some people got crazy when we posted non related Bruins articles in "The Bruins Thread" last year.
Anyways, draft is tomorrow.
And tonight a blockbuster trade took place.
Vancouver Gets: G Roberto Loungo, D Lukas Krajicek
Florida Gets: F Todd Bertuzzi, D Bryan Allen, G Alex Auld

Re: Official NHL Thread
Glad to see Loungo out of the East, that's for sure, and good thing that he didn't go to Toronto or Ottawa.
Also, turns out that Pronger has asked the Oilers for a trade.

I wouldn't mind him being traded to Buffalo

I would love to see him in Boston. Maybe theyd be interseted in Nick Boynton and Andrew Raycroft?
Boynton, Raycroft, M. Stuart, 2nd round pick for Pronger?? Sounds good to me

Re: Official NHL Thread
Biron unfortunately has to go. It's Miller Time. We definitely need a good D-Man in return. If the Wings want to give that up for Marty, I say fine.

Re: Official NHL Thread
anyone see the anaheim ducks new uniform.
they look too much like the penguins. the D in the "ducks" looks pretty cool because its like a webbed duck foot, thats really the only cool part.
The animal, Duck, licks toilet seat anyways.

seems pretty lopsided because luongo is one of the best goalies and bertuzzi seems to be falling.

Re: Official NHL Thread
i think Luongo is over rated and that Bertuzzi will have a good year in a place like Florida where hockey isnt their #1 sport. He had a solid year, with 71 points, so i wouldnt say hes falling. I think that Moore incident might have attributed to his slight decline in stats.
As for the other parts of the trade, Florida's getting a pretty good starting goalie in return in Auld. Bryan Allens a tough, young defenseman who will be pretty good for Florida. Krajicek is a young offensive defenseman who has good upside going to Vancouver

Fortunately for the Mighty Ducks, the most recent newly unveiled uniforms that I've seen before this was the Oregon Ducks football teams uniforms, so these look incredible in comparison. That said, these things are complete garbage. The wordmark is awful, particularly when placed on the front of the uniform. The uniforms themselves look too much like the Penguins. Their were some pretty cool prototype logos, why they didn't go with one of these is beyond me. I never thought I'd want them to return to those Disney, eggplant and jade monstrosities.
edit: I should add that I can't wait till September when the Sabres unveil their new stuff!

Re: Official NHL Thread
I know See Red, I can not wait to see what the Sabres new uni's will look like, but they can't be any worse that the Ducks, can they? I haven't heard anything as of yet, but I'm just guessing their trying to ride the wave of excitement from last season and sell as much Black and Red merchandise as they can. If the Sabres had missed the playoffs I think they'd be making a much bigger deal out of the Blue and Gold.

Re: Official NHL Thread
Spector's has a couple good ones.
BUFFALO NEWS: Tim Graham reports the Sabre have been the centre of "a couple of doozies" trade speculations this week. " Get this: leading scorer Maxim Afinogenov and goalie Martin Biron to the St. Louis Blues for the No. 1 overall selection. Or this: unreliable-but-potent winger Thomas Vanek to the Calgary Flames for defenseman Jordan Leopold. Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier denied both rumors, but admitted this time of year can be fun." Regier also denied any trades were imminent. Graham notes Afinogenov had a good regular season but a poor playoff and has never been considered "a heart-and-soul player", while goalie Martin Biron and his $2.128 million salary for next season has to go.
Spector's Note: The Flames are desperate for affordable offence and the Sabres might need more defensive help if Jay McKee and Teppo Numminen depart via free agency. The two clubs have made major deals before (the Chris Drury trade three years ago) so it's always possible the two sides could swap again.

I would love to get the 1st Pick, Erik Johnson, who is going to be a special player. He is supposed to be the next Pronger but more mature at a younger age and can come in and help his team right away.
Vanek may still be something decent, but he doesn't flash as other young forwards have.
Leopold is a solid defenseman.
