It would be kind of weird if the Pats went 16-0 the same year Miami went 0-16, no?
God I hate the Dolphins. And to think that one of my cousins is one of the Miami cheerleaders ... *shiver*

Re: Patriots Season Game Thread
Wow, I knew they didn't do well but I didn't know it was like this:

Which brings us to Sunday. Head referee John Parry’s crew was beyond bad in the Patriots 24-20 win. New England had a franchise record 10 penalties for 146 yards. And it wasn’t just the calls but the non-calls as well.
I counted eight blatant mistakes that went against New England (I’m not counting the pregame coin flip Parry had to do twice because he dropped the coin) each of differing severity.
1. Two officials with an unimpeded view of the play rule Colts receiver Aaron Moorehead in bounds on a first-quarter reception even though his left foot landed entirely out of bounds.
2. A neutral zone infraction on the Patriots in the first quarter that gave the Colts a first down on third-and-2. Two Patriots flinched at the same time and readjusted while a Colts offensive lineman jumped. It didn’t appear either got into the neutral zone.
3. Colts' tight end Dallas Clark hauling down Patriots safety Rodney Harrison in the end zone, preventing a chance at an interception.
4. An inadvertent flag on New England for having offensive lineman Russ Hochstein lined up as an eligible receiver despite the fact the announcement was made before the play that Hochstein was eligible.
5. A 40-yard pass interference penalty on Patriots corner Ellis Hobbs despite his picture-perfect coverage against Reggie Wayne.
6. A defensive holding (or pass interference) non-call on Colts linebacker Gary Brackett as he covered New England running back Kevin Faulk.
7. A phantom offensive pass interference call on Patriots' receiver Randy Moss inside the Colts 10.
8. A block in the back by Colts wide receiver Moorehead on Patriot Rashad Baker during Joseph Addai’s 73-yard touchdown reception.

What's funny is that Polian yesterday said he had not problem with the officiating and thought they did a good job

Re: Patriots Season Game Thread
First off....you're going off the opinion of one NBC sportswriter, who probably doesn't have any officiating experience.
Second, the officiating was terrible but it was common knowledge that this particular crew was whistle-happy. Both teams should have prepared for it going in.
And, IIRC, the 4th point in that list of plays was corrected, not really fair to include that in the list of plays.

True, I just was making note of it because I didn't know the extent of the mistakes.

True, and I am sure both teams were prepared for it......that doesn't justify an NFL crew screwing up that much in the "biggest regular season game" in a long time

True, I think he just mentions it to point out how off their game they were.
I would love to see the segment on NFL network where the director of NFL officiating (mike pierra) goes over the questionable calls of the week......I don't know when that segment is though.

Just found out that the segment on NFLN is on Wednesday's broadcast of 'total access'

Re: Patriots Season Game Thread
I saw the segement with Pierra last night and it used to be a good segment where Pierra would own up to mistakes by their crews. They showed the Hobbs PA call and Pierra defended it saying that Hobbs 'impeded theh progress to the ball'.

Re: Patriots Season Game Thread
Kind of weird that during the replay of the colts/pats game last night on NFLN the Moss offensive PA call and the infamous 'sound reverb' plays were edited out of the game...they just skipped over them and went to the next play.

Re: Patriots Season Game Thread
Pretty sweet move by the pats; all orders shipped to APO addresses (soldiers serving abroad) will have the shipping charges paid by the pats!

BB "You know our practices are closed,Joe."
No,I mean this is Giselle, sure you would let her into a practice?
BB "You know our practices are closed ,Joe."
(Long pause)
BB: "But we might make an exception..."
Laughs all around.
