Re: Deion Branch traded to Seahawks
ya
wha
he is
dont be dazzled by the shiny things in life
look at the bottom line and who you'd want to throw to on 3rd and 8
put marvin harrison on the opposite side of deion branch and see where he ends up as far as #s go
hes played in a fairly conservative offense his entire career in foxboro
hes had corey dillon running the ball,3 tight ends who can all catch and make plays and hes had to compete with givens brown johnson and faulk for time
hes gonna get big money in seattle and hes going to fluorish there as a top 10 nfl reciever
in fact
if im not mistaken his agent said he'd show here and resign for next season if the pats didnt slap the franchise tag on him which wouldve guaranteed him top 5 money
the pats refused
he walked
and now??
we have scouts in montreal following the alouettes and the eskimo's looking for someone on the outside to compliment our inside tight end threats
lots of talent in the CFL...

If you seriously think you can win a SB with troy brown as your top receiver, a mediocre second WR in Caldwell, a backup in Gabriel, and an unproven rookie in chad jackson, well then all I can say is good fucking luck.

Want me to display the 2001 Pats receiving corp that helped win it all and start a dynasty?

Well I don't know about that, there's still worse teams than pats in the AFC east even without Branch.

Re: Deion Branch traded to Seahawks
They didnt have flashy top-notch receivers in 01 I can recall.
Yeaaah in the divsion they are in (Miami might be behind them, but Daunte cant handle big games), easy schedule, future HOF QB in Brady, a better running game than last year's, better defense than last year's with return of Rodney Harrison, and future HOF coach Belichick... they will not make the playoffs

Re: Deion Branch traded to Seahawks
agreed
the pats won in 01 with the worst receiving corps in history since the 72 fins
but even that team had paul warfield marlin briscoe and ....ya
howard twilley
that being said
brady threw for 112 yards in that game and won the mvp??
our dbax and special teams were infinitely better then than now
anyone care to argue this point?

They were good but Ellis Hobbs easily shutdown the Bills top receiver in Lee Evans who is a pretty good receiver who is getting better all the time.

Re: Deion Branch traded to Seahawks
you want to compare hobbs with vintage ty law??
or this linebacking crew with willie a healthy brewski,tj etc...
i think our dline is better
i think our obacks are better
brady is definetly bette
and i for 1 will never ever call bellichek out
hes done more with less than anyone ever
i just dont like the move my man
it was over a cheesedick amount of money in the grand scheme of things and this time we werent prepared i feel
what about the kicker??
i loved what our guy did yesterday
however
put him in foxboro in january with a 20mph wind and a raging blizzard in his face and we may never have seen the dynasty get off the ground.
good day men

Re: Deion Branch traded to Seahawks
Your secondary is not nearly as good as it used to be. You shut down Lee Evans, but he's a 48 catch guy so far in his career, with JP Losman tossing him the ball and nobody to protect Losman. He'll be a great player, but he's not there yet. The LB's aren't nearly as good as they used to be. Seau isn't even a shell of his former self at this point in his career -- that was a desperation signing.
The offense is one-dimensional without Branch. How confident do you feel about your passing games chances against the Broncos defense in week 3?
As for the Seahawks, a first round pick for a man who hasn't even had 1,000 recieving yards or 5 TD's? Bad trade.
