For the record...Seau had the second highest tackle total yesterday with 8. I know it's one game, but if he isn't even a shell of his former self, he shouldn't even be coming that close to leading the team in tackles.

I'm excited to see how Gabriel will do. If he can get 500+ receiving yards and a few TDs to compliment that while playing behind Porter and Moss with Collins at QB ... I'll take it, especially with Brady now throwing to him.

We'll see. Only time will tell.

As for you, Papelboner, that was an example of a post that has nothing but troll qualities:

put marvin harrison on the opposite side of deion branch and see where he ends up as far as #s go
hes played in a fairly conservative offense his entire career in foxboro
hes had corey dillon running the ball,3 tight ends who can all catch and make plays and hes had to compete with givens brown johnson and faulk for time
There's football outside of Foxboro you know.

Reggie Wayne may be the best route runner in Indiana, that includes his counterpart. He's also probably one of the better possession WR's in the NFL. The two both probably run about the same forty time.

You put Wayne in Foxboro, he puts up better numbers than Branch. Fairly conservative offensives don't throw the football 530 times in a year. (Almost 80 times more then the Colts)

He's had Edge, and Harrison to compete against. You listed quantity over quality. Brown's been on the decline since '02, Bethel Johnson was a huge bust who never was to be considered a WR, and Faulk? He's a RB, WR don't compete for playing time with RB's.

hes gonna get big money in seattle and hes going to fluorish there as a top 10 nfl reciever
in fact
if im not mistaken his agent said he'd show here and resign for next season if the pats didnt slap the franchise tag on him which wouldve guaranteed him top 5 money
the pats refused
he walked
and now??
we have scouts in montreal following the alouettes and the eskimo's looking for someone on the outside to compliment our inside tight end threats
lots of talent in the CFL...
Steve Smith
Torry Holt
Anquan Boldin
Larry Fitzgerald
Chad Johnson

Branch isn't even close to the class of these guys. Good move by the Patriots.

If branch was put in to the Colts system, he would have 85+ catches 1,300 yards and 8-12 TD's. He is that good, Tom brady just throws to everybody, which I suppose is why I am not overly concerned but you cant say Branch doesnt have the talent of the Top WR's, because he does plain and simple.

Why is everyone so sure of that? Reggie Wayne doesn't reach those plateau's, why would Branch?

Just because he had the edge and Harrison to compete with doesnt eman that his stats are brought down due to their being available. I eman if he didnt ahve either of those 2, opposing defenses would be eitehr playing pass heavily (w/o edge) or double teaming him (w/o harrison). The presence of Johnson in Carolina automatically makes Smith better, so it's hard to tell which has more of a personal statistic affect.
As for teh second part i totally agree, he is nowhere near the same threat as those listed, and while I liekd him, cannot complain with the Patriots motives and how they ahndled this. I mean it's been precedented that the Patriots won't negotiate or re-new contarcts that are yet to be concluded, and has been dealtw ith the same with even better players, so branch should have seen this coming.

I don't know how much it brings his stats down, but I do think it hurts his stats somewhat. He may be open to make bigger plays, but those plays will come less often with balls headed toward Harrison.

Belichick won't do that because they have a history of making solid first round picks without hardly moving up in the draft.

If they have a chance to go and get Dwayne Jarrett, Calvin Johnson, or Ted Ginn Jr, I would package both those picks to move up.

If a top WR emerges as a I would consider swapping the 2 for 1. But ONLY for a WR.
