Re: 2007 NFL Season
Being a Buffalo Bills fan, I am very impressed with Marshawn Lynch.
Edit: and Buffalo breaks our hearts again...

The Broncos suck on kick off weekend. Is it too much to ask for to start the season at home just once?

In Central, FL you probably won't get him. I'd listen to the 3rd shift on FSR on the way in to work, and occasionally, at 6:00 am when they switched to the first shift (Czaban's show), they be late switching over and I'd get it for 15-20 mins. Now I have XM and can listen to the whole show. He's hilarious. Easily the best in the biz if you ask me.
Oh, and let me know if you get Sileo in the morning where you are. He's a former NFL D-lineman from the University of Miami. He's a former admitted 'roid user, and he is the absolute worst steroid apologist in the world. Not to mention a window licker on just about every other issue. And he's a Yankee fan to boot.
Despite their struggles, but Broncos pull one out on the road to open the season.

Yeah, I love sports talk radio, especially the early morning stuff because it tends to be the funniest. I used to try and listen to Mark Patrick On Sports, and that was my favorite show for a while but he got fired from FSR for some reason and I didn't like that too much... then they moved Czab into his timeslot and the shows are great for the exact same reasons. I don't like the shows that try and take themselves too seriously. I do like the third shift, though... that's what got me listening to MPOS and eventually the First Team.
Looking at the numbers, I can't even see how the Broncos game was a game at all. They completely dominated offensively and defensively, just couldn't hit a few FG's or cap drives off or something. I didn't listen to or couldn't watch the game so I was just checking ESPN periodically since gameday or whatever was messing up on me. Oh well, I can't remember the last time Denver won on Kickoff weekend... there was the season we lost to Miami and I proclaimed them the "worst Broncos team I've ever seen" a tad bit prematurely considering I think that was their AFC Championship game year and then last years loss against the Rams. I hear Cutler looked good... judging by the numbers, Travis Henry was a stud, and Stokley did more than I expected.

Re: 2007 NFL Season
See Red how do you see the Bronco defense shaping up? Champ is champ, and Dre made a great play knocking the pass away in the end zone. Elvis Dumervil had his moments like the INT, and Ian Gold looked really bad doing anything out there today.
I think they could be one of the top defenses if DJ Williams plays like he did today and they continue to improve. I don't follow them closely, I'm just a Pats fan that doesn't want any part of them in the postseason.
Champ looks like he is picking up right where he left off last year.

They'll be a top defense for a couple of reasons, I think.
1. I absolutely hate the terms that this had to happen under, and I'm not saying I didn't like the guy being on my team, but Darrent Williams shouldn't have been a #2 corner last year -- obviously, I'd love for the guy to still be on the team, and certainly with us, but it was a lot easier to avoid throwing to Champ with Williams opposite of him. He'd have been a great nickelback, but I'd rather have seen Foxworth playing opposite of Champ. Given the choice, I'd rather have Williams over Bly based on the circumstances, but purely from a football standpoint, Bly is a very clear step up. Though I'm not sure that Williams was entirely the problem because of reason number 2.
2. Larry Coyer's gone, and replacing him is a guy with a very impressive track record, Jim Bates. He's not technically the defensive coordinator, but he gets the final word in regards to defensive strategy. I stand by the fact that Coyer was at the very least one of the worst defensive coordinators in the League. The defensive was great, teams adjusted, and Coyer didn't, and then the defense struggled a great deal. He also tried to play Darrent Williams like he was Champ Bailey -- well off of the line of scrimmage -- and it left Darrent to get destroyed by double routes. This one, by the way, is the absolute biggest reason. This guy was a complete failure when it came to mid-game adjustments.
3. The defensive line is improved. That was the biggest weakness. No matter who's playing corner, any time the QB has 5 or 6 seconds to find an open reciever, he will. Jarvis Moss and Simeon Rice, if he's healthy, give the team the pass rush they've lacked.
Unfortunately I missed the game so I can't speak intelligently on anything that happened today. But for whatever reason the Broncos have always had the Patriots number and then the last time they played, Brady would not throw the ball to Champ Bailey's side. That'll change with Moss, but if any team has the guy's on defense to stop the Patriots it's Denver.
I just hope that QB's still have the idea that when they get near the goalline, they can just throw a jump ball to whomever Champ Bailey's covering. That never ends well for the other team.
They should be dramatically improved. I hope they can be "scary good" like they were early last season. Al Wilson was a big loss but it sounds like DJ Williams filled in nicely at mack, which I expected he would.

Re: 2007 NFL Season
Stupid fucking Ravens. 2nd and goal from the two, with Boller in for an inured McNair and you throw the ball twice, against one of the worst run defenses in the League. Stupid fucking Ravens.

Re: 2007 NFL Season
And, how bad is that Cincy D? Baltimore shit all over themselves last week giving them 6 turnovers, but now they have allowed 27 1st half points to Cleveland.
