Polian and Dungy complaining again!
Ya i know it's Felger, but here:
http://bostonherald.com/sports/footb...86&format=text
Quote:
"Indianapolis general manager Bill Polian and the Colts are complaining, again. This time, it’s about a schedule that has them playing a road game this Sunday at Carolina on a short week following a road Monday night game in Jacksonville. After the Panthers, of course, the Colts return home for Armageddon Day against the Patriots on Nov. 4.
Research conducted by the Indianapolis Star showed that over the past decade, 24 teams have played road games on a short week following a road Monday night game. Those teams are 12-12 in the second game and have lost seven of the past 10. The Colts are further chafed because the Panthers are coming off a bye. The Star pointed out that that scenario has presented itself just three times since 1997.
Coach Tony Dungy said the team lodged a complaint with the league. Shocker!
“It’s harder, it definitely is,” said Dungy.
Of course, fans in New England are well aware of this routine by now. They’ve seen Polian go to the league over injury timeouts (Willie McGinest in 2003), illegal contact in the secondary (2003 AFC title game) and poor field conditions (divisional round in 2004). Just add another log to the fire.
Meanwhile, the Patriots are no stranger to the above schedule quirk. The Pats were asked to do it in 2004, playing Monday night at Miami on Dec. 20 (a 29-28 loss) and then traveling to the division rival Jets six days later (a 23-7 win).
The Pats had a similar case last year where the schedule had them on the road for a Monday night game on Oct. 30 (a blowout win at Minnesota) and then returning home to face the toughest team on their schedule six days later, the Colts. The Colts ran over the Pats in that game, 27-20.
If the Patriots publicly complained about any of those instances, there’s no record of it."

Re: Polian and Dungy complaining again!
Your Patriots homerism knows no bounds.
How is this any different from Sox fans complaining about early June, when the Sox had the Sunday night ESPN game and then flew out to Oakland?
Tony Dungy is a class act. Belichick can learn a thing or two from him, namely humility.

For starters, that is the fans complaining and not the organization. I agree that Dungy is a class act, but Polian is the farthest thing from it (insert story of Polian ripping apart the Gillete press box screaming "break Flutie's leg" ) and complains to the NFL on a regular basis.

You know who else is far from being a class act? Bill Belichick.

Here's the Polian article:

According to Jay Glazer's report on FoxSports.com, when Indianapolis played the Jets at the Meadowlands earlier this season, the Colts president roughed up a Jets employee who placed loudspeakers too close to the Colts' bench.
|
Quote:
|
Much like Oakland godfather Al Davis, Polian pounds his fists on the table and makes loud remarks throughout the games. In the waning seconds of the Colts' 40-21 win here last season, several people heard Polian yell, "Break his leg," when he watched a Colts lineman pursue a scrambling Doug Flutie.

And you can't stand any criticisms of them.
What's worse, complaining about a road game after a Monday night game or refusing to shake hands with an opposing coach after a game?
edit - And how exactly did Dungy complain? All he said was "it's definitely harder."

Re: Polian and Dungy complaining again!
Exactly Kilo.
Polian files a complaint and I'm guessing someone in the media asked Dungy if this scheduling is difficult on a team...and he says yeah, its harder.
Now he's prtrayed as complaining.
This is a non-story, or should be, but the media is doing what it feels is there job, I guess, by blowing things out of proportion.

I don't care who critizises the pats, I've never said otherwise. I will defend them though if i don't agree with it. So when exactly did BB refuse to shake hands with a coach after a game? I would critisize him for that, but I didn't hear about it.
I like and respect Manning and Dungy, it's Polian I don't care for!

BB refused to shake hands with Mangina.
And if you respect Dungy, why is the thread titled "Polian and Dungy complaining again!"

Re: Polian and Dungy complaining again!
This is a pretty dumb thread. Polian complains a lot ... Dungy's quote was probably taken out of context. Who cares? They have to play the game anyway, as do a lot of teams.

At least he's not suing the league like his idol Al Davis.

I don't ever remember BB refusing to shake hands with Mangini...maybe i missed it somehow. I know he has a great disdain for the guy and probably has the record for the shortest handshake ever...but that's not refusing to shake the guys hand. After what Mangini did to BB, I can't really blame him for that...I mean here's a guy who was a water boy that you bring along everywhere you go, give him a job, promote him, ect.... Mangini works hard, but he wouldn't be anywhere near where he is without BB. So Mangini asks BB's advice on the Jets job opening and BB says "there will be plenty of great opportunities, but the Jets job wouldn't be your best option" Mangini then takes the Jets job while still employed by the pats, steals all the pats playbooks, laptops, ect... from Gillette, tries to recruit members of the coaching staff (and does take some with him), tampers with the whole Deion Branch thing, and more......................I don't blame BB for not wanting to play nice with Mangini.

The reason the thread was titled that is I found this story on a pats message-board and just kept the same title
